Evolution

Apologies in advance if this has been asked before.

So I'm somewhat confounded at the moment. I have two rare weapons max at tier 1 and read to evolve. I seem to be missing 1 requirement for bot to be upgraded, And that's another gun to complete the evolve. I have questions twofold that I hope this community can answer.

The option to buy the rare gun in question doesn't seem possible as I already own. So am I to assume that evolving is largely down to the luck of a drop?!

Why is it I didn't need an additional weapon to evolve a common item to level 2?

I've never tried evolving a common item, but I know that at least with uncommons you do need a second item. And yeah, it seems to be luck of the drop. So basically, any item above Uncommon is particularly difficult to upgrade, not only because of the rarity of masses of Rare+ parts and super high sugar costs, but also because it's difficult to get two of the same item.

For that same reason, I would actually say this game isn't P2W. Ship loadouts matter more than weapon upgrades, and crew member upgrades matter even more than ship loadouts. Some guy finding a Rare or Epic doesn't mean he wins, so spamming Premium Chests isn't actually a good method of winning the game (unless he finds a Legendary, I guess). How much money would someone have to spend before they find enough Epic Cannons to evolve it up to tier 5? There's spamming pearls to skip ranks, but that's just skipping time, and later that would get extremely expensive. Factor that in with the generally low skill level of most of the players online, and you really don't need to throw up any cash to win games.

I'd save the "P2W" stuff for when you're trying to top leaderboards at high infamy ranks. Those guys are probably emptying their wallets.

Yes you will need to get another rare gun which you want to upgrade, and you cannot buy that weapon from the shop. So you will have to wait for it to randomly drop from the heaven.

Even for common items you need to evolve them after level 10 by same process
