So how excactly is this fair matchmaking? It's a small mircacle that we managed to win this unfair match.

I was 99% sure it would be a guaranteed loss for our team. Especially with that mk6 fixer with his super high hp and 2 weapon slots. They all immidiatly started focusing fire on me, only causing them to miss all of their powerfull torpedos and mortar shots while the rest of my team could easily focus fire on them. I didn't even bother shooting at the beginnin since I was too busy trying to survive. Props to my team for howt hey played this match, and especially compliments to the fixer since he saved me like 4 times in that match.

A moment of silence for the passing away of fixers everywhere. May their souls rest happy and peacefully.

This is exactly why it's a fair matchup. The infamy system tries to match people based on equal win chance. Which means that if the enemy has stronger boats, they'll be worse players and you can still win, as you have demonstrated.
