The Jumpgate (just like Stargate) , which is used to escape the enemies' pursuits, ship will reappear in other places after crossing. It will of course also be like those ships or weapons that often fail.

"this gate is a random spot in a map anyone can use"

    So like a teleporter?
Will this be a random spot in a map anyone can use, or an item you can attach to your ship to create a portal?
For me personally, I would hate it if this was ever implemented :D

I’d previously considered this idea myself. Like the OP, I’d thought it a cool idea.

However, I think the negative points outweighs the positive ones.
    1. Part of B.B. is knowing where the enemy are and what they’re likely to be doing. It is a skill which separates the ‘good’ from the ‘great’. Jumpgates would remove that important skill.
    2. Also, imagine you are 1v1 and very little health left whilst opponent has nearly full health. You jump. Opponent can’t find you, so match ends in a draw. I foresee that it would create too many draws, which would be a negative step.
    3. Another crucial part of B.B. is careful positioning. Giving a player a ‘jump’, would be like giving them a ‘get out of jail free’ card, which would again lessen the impact of an important skill.
    4. A minor point, but I don’t think it fits in with the ‘technology’ levels that the boats have. All weapons aren’t that far in advance of what we have today. But if you say they have teleportation, then surely flight would also exist in that universe (also perhaps invisibility) etc etc.

Everyone say it with me... Portal Gun! Portal Gun! Portal Gun!

you shoot it the first time and it drops a landing portal. You shoot it the second time and it gives you an entry portal. You go through the entry portal and end up at the exit portal... once. Anyone can go through it but it's only usable once.

ROFL, that'd have to be play balanced within an inch of it's life but oh I want it so badly.
