Alright, which mortar should I focus my efforts on?

In spite of constantly trashing Shooters and their mortarspam I have dupes of all the mortars and am thinking of putting some effort into making one high level. Is there any correct answer to the title question than "Big Berta", which I do have dupes for? Are any of the lesser mortars good enough?

 

Ballpark is pretty good... Teamed with a frost launcher (enfo/speeder only) it can be devastating on teams grouped up together/huddling their fixer

Hmmm I quite like my Epic Standard Mortar – I usually lob a Firebomb which makes a ship try to change direction (and hoping they get caught on the edge) and I immediately launch a standard mortar shot in the direction that they are now moving. Works okay for me.

 

I have a T1 Legendary Standard mortar and a Rare T4 LRM, and both have the same radius and cooldown. Yes, the Standard Mortar deals about 112 more damage but the LRM's reach assures me that it will deal out more damage over the course of a battle... every battle. Standard Mortar is surpassed in some way by every other mortar.

 

Ballpark has enough damage and spread with quick enough reload to be useful as 5th weapon shooter. Or a frost enforcer.

All other mortars are trash. And too limited thru low damage ex. (standard) or thru long flight time ex. (bertha)

 

I perfer long range mortar because of it's long range and fast projectile speed.

 

I used to use enfroster and I ran long range and standard (hey, a f2p makes do)

 

Ah, I have a L10 Epic Big Berta and waiting for a dupe to evolve. Will it equip it after evolving and levelling up a little. My L40 Rare Firebomb currently deals out more damage than the Big Berta.

 

LRM or Ballpark

 

I’m obviously not a big Mortar user, but when I have tried different builds, my favourite Mortar has always been LRM. It’s not easy to hit with, but it’s still very disruptive.

As someone who spends most of his time trying to get so close to the unfriends that their Torpedos won’t work. Being able to sit back and harass them from miles away, feels almost like cheating.

 

But it will be useless at close range

A BALLPARK MORTAR USER HERE!!

 

I use a berta and firebombs, and their both pretty good. Although if you only need one mortar type weapon, then firebomb is better.

 

None. Scrap them all. Mortars are good early-mid game, but if you focus your resources on them now you’ll be porked in the long run.

 

Really? I mean, I'm at least mid-game atm, getting training to high levels, lvl 50 gear... And I still see a ton of mortars out there. I'm honestly asking because I'm a Defender player who has all his cannons maxed and is about to have his shields maxed as well, so I'm going to have resources to spare on new things.
