A Flare gun is a point weapon as far as Captain training is concerned, yes?

    As the title says. I'm about to hit a couple of those "5% to point damage weapons" things, and I'm wondering if flare gun will benefit from them?

    It’s my understanding it’s the only weapon that is neither point nor area of effect.

    The only universal talent which affects flare gun damage is "Damage Boost For All Weapons"

    The initial impact is considered "Point Damage." This may also mean that the damage is increased when a Flare hits a Tesla Shield, as all damage dumps at once, but we would need to test that out with very well-tuned Flares and Tesla Shields in order to get a situation where the +% point damage buffs are the deciding factor.

    But you are correct that the ongoing damage is considered "incendiary" which is neither point nor AoE. This also means that it is not reduced by Defense Points.

    Sadly, no. Only ways to increase the flare gun damage are with the % increase to all weapons, or with Burnice’s skill training.

    Interesting... do you know if the fire bomb is considered AOE or is it like the flare gun?

    Firebomb (and Napalm) receive buffs from AOE talents, but deal Incendiary damage.
