    I see no other ship than speeder who happen to be 3rd in hitpoint complaining about Sniper.
    And reasons are obvious it annoys them.
    This game is not about what speeder wants, there is Four more ships.
    Grow up Speeders..learn to deal with it

    @EyeOfDoom is a defender, btw. And idc anyway, nerf it, keep it as it is, whatevs. You other ships are gonna get shot down anyway, omae wa mou shindeiru lol.

    Excuse me, what do you play as? I think it's important in the context of you calling out a ship class in a weapon debate.

    I am Enforcer and learning speeder...
    And I use bandage so my hp is like 2200 for speeder..and 3185 approx enforcer...
    Thats in ace 1....

    I’m a shooter at 4100 inf currently. A t5 epic sniper, which i’m seeing constantly, takes away about 1/3 of my 6075 hp.
    And dragonlegend, you can grow up and actually learn to make posts that you do something else than repeat opinions and instead have some facts.

    To nerf a sniper all you need to do is make it harder to hit that means.
    1. Slow down the projectile it has 12 more speed than railgun so no leading is needed make it so it actually requires some skills to use like railgun.
    2. A slight increase in cooldown could be a good move.
    3. No need to nerf the crit chances as it will make the weapon useless.

    There is fallacious form of argument called ad hominem, where instead of addressing the points and facts, the arguer seeks to undermine their opposition by attacking them personally, rather than thier argument.

    That’s all I’m seeing here from the people defending sniper. Instead of talking about the weapon’s capabilities and how much that’s worth, they are attacking people personally. Calling us liars and cheats, saying we don’t know how to play, etc...

    I could, also, turn this very same form of argument around, and start saying it is they who are the liars and cheats. They know thier weapon is OP, and they want to keep it that way. I could say that they are the ones who don’t know how to play, and that thier infamy would drop if they weren’t being propped up by an overpowered weapon.

    Yes, I do play Speeder. But that’s not why want sniper nerfed. If that were the case then I would also be arguing for mines and carronade to be nerfed. I friggin hate mines! They are really annoying for speeders. But I understand they have a function and a purpose, and that if I hit one, then I get what I deserve.

    I don’t just get killed by snipers, I’m often fighting very close to other ships, so most of the time I’m killed by Blasts and Explosive Cannons. I get caught out all the time by Carronades, and Enforcers/Defenders running Flare+ Blast/ExC combos. All those weapons are brutal, but I never feel they are ‘unfair’. If I get mauled at close range by a carronade, then all I think is ‘Damn! That guy came prepared!’. If I get crippled at long range by a Big Torp or Railgun, then I think ‘Oh snap! He got me with the big 2 slot weapon’. But I’m fine with all of that.

    Yes snipers are good against speeders, and yes maybe speeders ‘should’ be punished for scouting out in the open. But that doesn’t mean the weapon isn’t OP. A few seconds on someone’s Rader doesn’t warrant losing two thirds of your hp to a hail of sniper crits. Some damage: certainly, but thousands of damage stacked: that might be too much. Especially given how easy it is to aim.

    If I hit a big torp and took thousands of damage then I could understand, it’s slow and hard to aim. But sniper is the fastest and easiest weapon in the game.

    Even if we disregard all of that, and say it’s completely fair, and speeders should take thousands of damage within seconds of being sighted. Then there should be some pay off when you aren’t sighted. When you sneak up and get within Carronade distance.

    But sniper is also brutal at that distance. No other weapon has that. Carronade, Blast, ExC all brutal up close, but when there are no close ships, you can’t go pummelling nametags on the distant horizon with them. Railgun is brutal at a distance, but it is pathetic up close, and has (probably) more drawbacks than any other weapon (cooldown, slot point cost, etc...).

    That’s my problem with sniper, it’s too good at too many things, for only one slot. Which is why I think it needs a nerf. If people want a weapon that does everything then that should be very expensive: either two slots, or with a very long cooldown. If people want a cheap weapon that’s only one slot, then it shouldn’t do everything (it shouldn’t even have a ‘chance’ of doing everything). If you want to cover all your bases then you should spend the slot points on a balanced selection of weapons. Not just one slot point on a weapon that does it all, and then fill the rest up with spammable torps and mortars.

    Bottom line is. You can say what you want about speeders, attack us personally, call us cheats, call us liars, say we’re OP, say we can’t play. But none of that, absolutely none of it, proves that sniper isn’t also overpowered.

    Ok you are making some sense here...
    You don't want sniper to take 2/3 of your hp while scouting.
    You tell me will nerfed sniper will work against high hp ships... I wonder how long I have to hit a 11k defender with my rare sniper.In the end its not about ease of use, Its about damage. You agrue about it being easy, canon is easy how many use it?
    You can always develop skills for hard weapons but not damage.

    Yes, it’s not just one thing, it’s all the things combined. And I’m not that fussy on which things get changed. I could put up with the ease of use if the damage were a bit less. Or I’d be happy with the huge damage, if it were a bit less versatile. It’s when it all works together, it just feels like too much, for too little cost.

    With regards to nerfed sniper against defender. I think it’s okay for a weapon not to be good against every target. That’s why we take a selection of different weapons.

    I have some games were I ‘honestly’ don’t play that badly, but end up doing zero damage, because the unfriends are dug in somewhere behind cover with thier fixer, and I just can’t get to them with anything except my Tesla Bolt (at least not without getting the popular award, and suiciding to do damage that will just get healed up). In those situations, it’s a job for mortars and my weapons are useless (think Chill Zone).

    Speeders are a bit limited with weapon choice, but it’s not an issue for a shooter to also run a torp for use against Defenders, in fact it’s better if people are encouraged to take a variety of weapons, rather than lots of people doubling down on one item that’s (IMO) too versatile.

    Ok, it’s very clear that there are some strong opinions on the subject. This thread has been open since Thursday and devs would need to be blind not to be aware of it (plus the other historic threads on the same subject). Everyone who wants to vote has had a chance. The sides are entrenched and no one is going to change the others mind.

    Let’s move on to other topics, this one has ran its course and is in the hands of the devs.

    What if we make it a 3 slot item ? We have to compromise for slot points like in defender if we equip 1 sniper we have to equip 1 slot item in the other 2 slots (mk5). And we cant equip it on a enforcer and a speeder cause they dont enought slot points and in case of shooter and defender they have to sacrifice all.

    Which means the majority (55%) voted for a nerf. Just because because the nerf camp was subdivided into 6 different options, doesn’t mean you won.
