This would break the game...imagine a new player rocking a legendary sniper rifle...

That would not "break the game", as new players have access to Legendarys as much as any other non-Nightmare players.
However, it would be a problem.

    I've given this some thought:

A good way to implement this would be to have a limited, time-based guild loan program. Maybe once per season, you could loan a fellow guild member equipment for a designated time period. Maybe 6, 12, 18 or 24 hours.

At the end of the time period the item reverts back to its owner. If the guild member is kicked or leaves the guild, it automatically reverts. If the loaner wishes to reclaim the item ahead of time they can. You are never giving up control of your equipment.

But given how hard the higher boards are to complete, that we have no ability to refresh a single quest, and given the fact that the rewards don't even remotely match up to the difficulty of these higher boards, this would go along way to help.

I would make also an infamy cap of 300-400 points so players in Nightmare aren't giving players in Ace 3 massively OP weapons. So if your infamy is 4000, you could loan the equipment to a player 3600 and above.

To be perfectly honest, i doubt the Devs will implement this.

If they are going to implement it, there should be rarity constrains for different captain levels for this feature. Like level 10 and below can only take uncommons and below, levels 10-20 can take rares and below, levels 20-35 can take epics and below, and 35-50 could take any rarity.

I like this idea a lot still. This would help new players.

What about a guild progression system? Many games have tasks that you can do to level up guilds over time. In battle bay, this could be tied to shared items. For example, level up your guild to level 2 to get access to a bunch of "guild items", that 1 person can take out and use at a time. Then, people wouldn't have to lend others their stuff, the guild would have special items for that. Leveling up the guild further could improve the quality of guild items, or give access to more, etc.

I created this topic before gearscore was introduced. Now that it exists, it would actually offer an easy way to balance item withdrawals.

Either by limiting borrowed items to a gearscore that players have already achieved on their own (with one of their own items); or by limiting their borrowed items to a gearscore that is appropriate for their league.
