See if these details fit your concept
@ViscountSniffit. First, it will be helpful to define terms and stick with them. I am going to take some liberties so by all means my definitions do not have to be gospel. Trading doesn't seem to be the right word here. Think of it as more of borrowing or a loaner like a library book. Only one copy of the book/weapon exists. I can select (let's say) one weapon/item that can be loaned to the Guild Library. Maybe each player can put their 4 best (that's 100 items!). Items that are put into the library have a glow around them or some special border. I can still use my weapon I loaned to the guild library. When I am not playing, another member of the guild can take my loaner weapon, and use it for quests, get the feel for it, etc. If the loaner weapon is equipped, then no other guild member can loan the weapon too. It will be greyed out.
In the battle wrap up screen, anyone with loaner weapons will have the same special glow border, just so we can see how popular this will be.
@*Rubber Duck* hit it on the head, If I am not using it, I can contribute it to the guild to use it. This is great for the hard quests so not all 25 members have to have
everything leveled which is unrealistic. My guild has been spreading resources all over into uncommons to help with odd quests. The Guild Library would also be great for guilds across multiple time zones too. It would not be abused because only one person can have it loaned at a time.
Details will have to be worked out if the owner wanted the loaner back. Communication is key. I think if at any time the owner signed on, they can see someone has it equipped and take it back as long as the person is NOT in a match. The person who has the loaner would get a pop-up. Any guild library loaner would be taken out of the library on a first come first serve basis. If any non-owner had it equipped and was offline, it has to go back to the library as free and unequip from that player.
I think the weapon with all of its perks would be put up for loan. A person with only bhurt level 19 could not equip a tier 4 weapon. Obviously when a person takes out a weapon, all of their crew training kicks in depending on how their crew is trained.
If a person leaves the guild, or is kicked, their loaned weapons disappear. If a match was in progress with a loaner when someone left the guild, the loaner would go back after that match.
This may create some temporary infamy increases. Fear not because the awesome infamy system will always put you back in your place.
Guild members will be able to focus their resources on their core or favorite weapons which will make the guild stronger, faster.
(Optional) If a loaned weapon is used for quests, the owner could get a portion of it's earnings.
Any downsides to any of this? Seems like a win-win here.
Have I left any open end here? I will keep thinking on this and fill in any cracks.
