    Hi guys.

I know everyone is sick of this topic, but I need to know if anyone else is experiencing this. It is making the game experience an extremely frustrating one.

I am home sick today so played a lot of BB. I started off around 1700, climbed to 1888, 1 win away from league promotion, then bam, 10+ game loss streak back to 1640. No ship changes, and I don't think I played any worse (1st or 2nd scorer on team). Most shooters at infamy are MK5, but then why the win streak?

I would MUCH rather float around 1750/1800 until I get better upgrades with a consistent win/loss experience.

It happens to me every now and then, and it can be very frustrating. You’ve just lost 6 games in a row, and you’re thinking “this time I’ll turn it around”, so you join game 7, only to find there is a floater or a mk1 in your game (arghjg!!).

Since there already seem to be measures in place to stop people dropping infamy on purpose, it might be nice if there were something to stop you dropping too far through bad luck.

The only legitimate function of dropping a large amount of infamy, would be if someone suddenly started doing something really bad (like using a mk1 when they have a mk5). But since that kind of behaviour isn’t really allowed, infamy has become a rather odd system.

It might be nice to have an option to reset your own infamy to your average (perhaps in exchange for some pearls). That would make it a bit less frustrating when you have a bad streak, and have to grind your way back up from -500.

Maybe I should simply play less, I wonder if that has any bearing on the system.

In the last season, I started below the league cutoff (1600) thinking 'no problem, I'll just make it up in a couple of days.' Lo and behold, I dropped from 1485 to about 1150 before starting the 'climb' back up. I was able to break 1600 again literally hours before the season's end. If this is how the idea of 'challenging' players is applied to the game, then it does feel a bit artificial. Plus, nobody should be legitimately playing to win and drop 300 infamy straight! If this cycle keeps up I think i might stop playing, even if I really enjoy the gameplay itself.

As a counterexample, I used to play starcraft 2, a much more stressful and rank-intensive game, which also had a 50% winrate goal built-in to the matchmaking. I would indeed face tougher and tougher opponents which would result in losses, but at least there it was clear that the opponents were just stronger, all else being equal. On my win-streaks in BB though, I was surprised to see the number of gold weapons on my team. Sometimes 3 in one match, in the 1700 range...

Happens to me all the time, sometimes I’ll even lose 700 inf in an evening, only to reclaim it over the next couple of days. It’s a roller coaster.

It’s just the natural swing of infamy. It’s nothinng you do or anyone does. Sometimes it swings a little more than normal. Sometimes it barely swings at all. You never have a set infamy anyway. You just have a normal range. Mines 4.1k to 3.5k. Most of the time I sit around 3.8 but sometimes it swings a little more and I get lucky or unlucky.

Thanks guys, feels better knowing it's 'normal.' Still, anyone else think some improvements could be made here?

I have been getting ready to make a massive post on (IMO) the only thing wrong with MM. So get ready for that lol
I have had many difficulties and rage quits with BB. I will admit to breaking 2 phone chargers as a result of "stupid battles".
But time and time again I notice there isn't anything in place to make you lose infamy. I have learned to play for fun and try to not look at infamy anymore. It's not worth the rage it produces...
Just my 2 cents. Play for fun, don't worry about infamy. If you are doing well in battles, you will rise in infamy

Can you "lose" skill? o_O I was at 1700 last season, and now, with the same ship and better items, I can't top 1400!

But thats fine, because now I can test my ships at mk4...

This is basically how I felt, except I sold a lot of rare yellows and blues to upgrade my reds, so now it makes no sense to test enforcer/speeder...if the magic 'win streak' didn't kick in 2 days before the start of this last season I would have been demoted! Play for fun sure, but I also want to play with people who are good at the game (higher infamy) and trying hard to win, rather than floaters, suiciders, etc. The battles are just better. When I climb up I still consistently score in 1 or 2 on my team so it isn't just a lucky freeloading streak...at least that's how I see it...

There is also the possibility of power creep. Though it might not be something that affects you over a few weeks, it certainly seems to be a long term issue.

It might end up being a big problem in the future, since you’re not strictly allowed to lose infamy. If the power keeps creeping up around you, and you don’t play much, you could end up in a situation where your current ‘appropriate’ infamy is more that 800 below your highest.

Mainly about luck but also you can be pushed up really high for a while due to great matchmaking in your favor then have that luck run out. Seen it happen on a whole different scale where players are even pushed uo 800 over where they can't really do much and they drop until they lose rewards.. bummer
