The new update will give us the ability to share matches, but I'd like more info on that.

First of all, I'm really happy about that function. But I do wonder, once I update the app, will I be able to share vids as well, or do I have to update my ipad to iOs 11 first before I can use that function?

And if we can record, does that include the sound as well, or just the screen? And if we can record, can we save it on our photo/video library as well, or just within the game?

(Also 1 thing I'm kinda worried about... After the update, will the forum be flooded with random vids?)

They should make a sub forum for videos specifically. If they're posted here, give person a warning and if they continue to do it, an infraction.

 

Upload to my channel instead!! I'm trying to monopolize on the plethora of clips this update will bring to the internet. Trust me, everyone will get a lot more exposure from my channel instead of on the forums, where everyone is gonna be sick of looking at videos after a few days.

I figured with iOS 11 we’d get a bunch of new videos but we haven’t really so I don’t expect a huge bump when the game records them for you.

 

I've no idea what Rovio is planning, but my guess is (as a software dev) that the functionality will be replay only - no recording. Probably with some basic camera control. They've probably had most of this for internal debugging already since the start.

Battle Bay is written using Unity, and there is (AFAIK) no easy drop-in video recording functionality for Unity. They would have to do the hard work themselves, and that would include platform specific code for iOS and for Android - and you really really want to avoid that as a programmer.

So now that iOS comes with recording, and there already exist multiple recording solutions for Android - they will without a doubt avoid the hassle and risk of rolling their own record functionality.

If you have a mac and don't want to upgrade your iPad to iOS 11, then you can connect them using usb and record your iPad using Quicktime (probably at higher resolution than the internal iOS11 record)

 

Check the teaser that they gave to all VIP insiders. There is a "share replay" option.

Nooo, the share feature is for everyone. The teaser graphic they sent out went to VIPs only.

I guess it will work something like this:

1. Click share game
2. Up pops OS share menu, so that you can share link to game via existing services like sms, imessages, facebook, twitter, etc.
3. Your friend gets a message like: "Hey, check out this awesome game I just played on Battle Bay: http://battlebay.net/replay/a591namAhs"
4. Your friend clicks the link, if he doesn't have Battle Bay installed he will be prompted to install it.
5. If BB is installed the web page redirects to battlebay://replay/a591namAhs or simular - Battle Bay the game opens on your phone.
6. Watch game (with interactivity, like rotate camera, etc).

( Kinda like Spotify and similar apps support sharing today, example: https://open.spotify.com/track/0HewdQ1l9bckQXPfIO3CYH )

This could mean that we could share games on the forums, without creating videos. Just post the url of the game.

 

How about posting in guild chat, like clash of clans(sharing replay so clan members can see) ?? OR there will be an another option for that (sorry not much knowledge about games, except some of these)
