For such issues, it is always helpful for developers to get some technical details, such as device, OS and Internet Carrier, so they can look in.

 

Most likely a weird rendering bug contact rovio at support.rovio.com with a detailed description of your: device, internet provider and any other details you deem necassary

 

Ur not alone.

 

Missing imagery in rendered display is mostly due to memory exhaustion, please check and provide the amount of RAM on your device.
If it still happens while you have no other apps running in the background, besides the needed services, your device might be too low-end for the game to properly render it's graphics.
In that case the devs might be able to lower the resource requirements of the game when possible.
One thing you could do in mean time is selecting "Half Resolution" in the game settings.
I know it's ugly, but at least you will see the ships
