Help a noob out!

I started out today and this is currently everything i own, i need tips on builds and how to be competative long turm. But i also need tips of how to make the best of what i own.

 

1. no commons
2. train captains as much as possible
3. buy all uncommon and rare parts if u can afford
4. refresh quests for better gold or sugar (unless they are good already.)

As for load out, if you are playing shooter id say start out with cannons, sniper and standard (blast if u can make the hits) but the fast reload is very convenient for standard
Other than the cannons, some of the best weapons are firebomb, big berta, big torp, swift torp, and railgun i think
Go for shield and turbo on blue slots

You already have duplicate sniper cannons, so use either them, or that rare blast cannon you have. <-- pick one of those, then use the standard cannon. I used this combo when I started out and I DOMINATED the competition. Railgun is fairly useless early on in the game, and is hard to land shots. It's one of my main damage dealers but I do NOT recommend using it early (needs Buzzkill perks to be good too).
Once you hit mk2, using sniper cannon, blast cannon, and regular cannon will put you in a very good spot. You'll have to fight at medium range to be effective, but you'll have good, constant damage output. Replacing either the blast cannon or regular cannon for the mortar or torpedo could be a good choice if you find you don't have enough AoE damage (area of effect), but honestly that early in the game, focusing on aiming and using single target continuous damage is a very good way to go.

Also do NOT try to start upgrading or obtaining EPIC weapons. They are not worth the upgrade costs and will be incredibly hard to find duplicates. Start off with Commons, and try to get as many rare duplicates as you can. They are going to be your bread and butter.

Also also xD This game is about chance. You don't get to choose your weapons unless you pay a LOT of cash. Base your play style and your loadout on what you have, not what you want to have! Work with what you got

Also also also, I'd highly recommend if you do spend some money, using $10 or so to increase your inventory capacity. It will help a LOT to be able to store more items. (You can also buy each new ship really cheap, delete the uncommon items the come with and store some items there if you run out of room).

So i shouldn't bother with my Epic mortar right now?

 

I certainly would not. But it's up to you.
I'm just speaking from experience where I scrapped all green and blue items to upgrade my purple, only to get destroyed by people with rares and commons that have been evolved and do more damage and cost less resources to upgrade. Then I was stuck trying to play catchup for ages (I still have an epic sniper that only does 200 dmg compared to the rare snipers that are doing 400 non crits, i'm at 2100 infamy Mk4)

 

In the long run, no, standard mortar is pretty lame imo
but while ur building up ur cannons and such, using ur epic should be fine (dont lvl it up greater than 3 thats just a waste of rss then)

 

In the long run, I disagree, you dont have to pay, and you can choose your weapons.

But I agree about the Rares; they're used from the lower infamy levels until very, very high.

Try to watch some Youtubers (Porthos, Genki Gamers, ...). Much golden advice

 

^ Also watch Bittersteel. Probably the best shooter to watch if you're a free-to-play guy. He only has rare weapons and is still smashing it in Nightmare league.
