seriously, this is bugging me a lot
at starting it doesn't seem to be pay to win, but then I came to know that you can get rare or legendary weapons by paying real money
is there any explanation for this.
or is it really pay to win ?

From what I'm seeing/experiencing it's more of a pay to shortcut than pay to win. I've gotten a decent amount of rares from free sources (fusing 10 part pieces, green box for 15 stars) and I'm 1 quest away from getting a Premium Chest which has a rare guaranteed and even has a chance at getting an epic/legendary item though the chances are small. I only have one epic and it's Swift Torpedo. I got it out of the first premium chest I opened for 400 pearls. As you go up in level so does your rewards and eventually you'll be buying Rares from the shop for 750k gold if you haven't gotten the one you want. Having the high rarity weapons definitely makes you hit harder but the true power comes from upgrading ships to Mk3 and Mk4 for much more slots and health to survive a round.

It's not really a pay to win game because epic items can somewhat easily be obtained without spending. However it takes a long time (even years), so money can definitely help you get those good items faster. But you still need to know how to use everything efficiently and can't buy that knowledge.

I agree with what others have said
It's not pay to win but like most games with this model paying will help you progress faster!

One young pup came in and started the game with a legendary Cannon and was spouting off about how he was gonna get up and give the big guns a run for their money. Yes, his legendary and epic gear bought with pearls (aka real money) got him up through the ranks quickly and I think most of us thought that maybe he had a chance. But he seems to have got a wall at around 2200 infamy and from all reports, is a TERRIBLE player and and even worse teammate.. no skills and no appreciation for the fact that this actually IS a team game. His money can't buy him skills, and it can't teach him that it's all about him. So if you come across these type players, never fear, they will glide past you as far as their items can can carry them, and by the time you catch up, your skills will be (hopefully) far superior. It's most satisfying when you have worked hard to get to that point, to defeat them in spite of all the cash they injected

    +100 Mr. Squiggle. :)

It's all about skillz. And what exactly you define as winning... because only one player, Blacktail, officially "wins" Battle Bay. And he is not a heavy pearler. Yet he consistently wins every single season thanks to mad skills and playing 40,000 games. Just let that settle in before you cry "P2W."

Even at lower ranks you see that gear alone can't carry you. I've been killed by plenty of Uncommon weapons as much as I've been killed by Epics. Players that learn to use their gear instead of relying on having a higher dps than the guy shooting you seem to make it a lot further. Being limited by your Captain level will become much more apparent as you cross the 1k infamy line and face ships that are Mk3 and Mk4 with 3x the hp as your now puny Shooter Mk2. I don't think any amount of firepower would let me compete with the tankier ships.

Yeah even 2 legendary cannons isn't enough to surpass 2200 infamy as a little pup. :( It's definitely a team based game.

This game isnt necessarily pay to win its more pay to help. Dont want to have to grind out quests for that box? Buy some pearls. Dont want to wait for your guy to finish a upgrade? Buy some pearls. Its a team based game one man who spends $5000 is not guarenteed to win.

While paying for a epic cannon might give you a nice boost in the beginning, good luck trying to level it up. You can only buy one item of each type, and you need 2 to level up.

Focus on leveling up your rares first. Get those to t4 or t5. Save all your epics you buy/build. Never scrap them until u know exactly what you want to work on. When you get 1000 games under your belt, you will know what your playstyle is best suited for. Then, and only then, should you start to focus on leveling your epics.

At this point, legendary weapons are not required at all to be in top 50 of the game, it's a bragging right more than anything at the moment. Many players still use t4 epics. And t5 rares. It just takes skillz.

Over time, that will change. But for now, don't worry about it. ;)

Well, I'm going to somewhat contradict my earlier comment. Dropping a load of money on buying epic guns can help out but it seems that using your pearls to speed through training can have just as good effects. In my current league (Warrior Div. III) we've had a good fight over first place with the highest Infamy being high 900's to low 1000's and we were all level 11-13. Today, the person who was sitting in 3rd place suddenly went from level 11 to 21 and from 930 infamy to 1216 in a matter of an hour. Now by no means is this guy "killing the game" and going to be in Nightmare League come next season but if you view getting 1st in a low tier season as winning then you might consider the game P2W.
