Both of these seem like a waste of a slot better suited for turbo, shield or bandage.

Maybe they should be combined to take up one slot?

I thought about using rudder on my fixer, but to be honest I came to the conclusion that skills can compensate the terrible turning agility

I wonder as well. Got an epic gear lube, not sure if I should use it on my Fixer.

Using lube gives you turret agility, that would be best If you use boxes or bolts actively. You dont lose sth to try it right?

Rudder is best. Im a fixer with rudder. I have caught in a mortar rain(about 8 or less, dont remember how much), I was just using rudder to turn on waves downside and their total damage was -31. I didnt needed an overboost. I feel so slow without my rudder. I wish I had found it earlier

I've been using rudder for ages. First on defender and now on fixer. I tried fixing without and hated it, rudder too nice.

Porthos uses rudder. Fairly sure it'd be a must on a higher tier defender given how slow the move and turn.

If you use enforcer you dont need either, cause it has high turret/ship agility from the base build up and compromises for any problem of turning.

I think it's better suited for mk6+ because they lose a lot of turning speed

I'm a mk5 defender and feel no need for either ATM.

Can I ask you what level of rudder do you have? I have tried using it to get a taste, but I found that the improvement wasn't worth losing the shield/turbo with a lv1 epic rudder.

I'm pretty sure that you'll need atleast a level 10 epic rudder/gear or level 20 rare lube to make a difference

Level 30 rare will do you great help, you can max your agility with tier 4 epic items

You won't notice a good effect from lvl 1 anything... (legendary excepted...) Even lvl 1 epics are worthless. You gotta get it at least to 5 (more so 10) before you can judge it.

Get it to lvl 11 rare before judging (so it can have 2 perks), or 10 if it's epic. Put 2 rudder perks in and you will have a significant difference in turn speed. If it still doesn't convince you, don't take it. It's a matter of preference, after all.

It is when people learn to lead shots and put the mortar just ahead of you. Means that if you can turn to the side, you have to cover less distance to get out of the red circle than if you go straight ahead.

I used my super pro paint skills to provide illustration:

Also, the quickest way to get out of a red circle is often to go down a wave, so sometimes it can be advantageous to be able to turn towards a low point quickly
