Balancing suggestions

    hi Rovio,
    just wanna share some thoughts on adding more differentiation and balancing factors into Battlebay. Hope you guys will consider these suggestions in some form.

    1) knockback factor:
    • some weapons will have a knockback ability
    • each boat type will have their own knockback resistance levels (speeders weakest - shooters the strongest against knockback; defenders are immune)
    • knockback will deal the following effects if impact will hit in the following directions:
      • front: if a boat is hit in front and running in an opposing direction, the boat's speed is slowed down (varies depending on knockback resistance)
      • side: if a boat is hit on the side, knockback will rock the boat disabling lock-on and/or the scope will shake (effect varies depending on resistance rating)
      • back: if in the same direction will bump the boat forward, opposite direction will slow down the boat (effect varies on resistance)
    • recommended weapons with knockback ratings: (blast cannon, explosion cannon, all mortars (shockwave effect), rail gun, big torpedo, mines)
    2) power vs. speed (engine type) and weight factor
    • 3)speeders and enforcers have speed-engine type, excellent acceleration but is not suitable for heavy loads (top speed affected by additional weight)
    • fixers, shooters and defenders have power-engine types, slow acceleration but has more torque, top speed not affected by heavy loads nor can be slowed down when going up waves
    • each item has weight, 2 slot items are definitely heavier than 1 slot items; each item has its own weight value
    • theoretically, speeders/ equipping big shields will have reduced top speeds and will have slower acceleration
    • max speed will still be in effect: meaning equipping boats well below their weight capacity will not give higher top speed but it will give better acceleration, but if boat is over its weight capacity, top speed will also be reduced together with acceleration
    3) rate of fire:
    • each boat type should have a different rate of fire (cooldown between the next shot/weapon)
    • rate of fire hierarchy (suggested): shooter - defender - enforcer - fixer - speeder

    Some great ideas but I'm not sure the game engine can handle it. They enhanced the flame effect of fire bombs and it caused lag so I think it's pretty much at its limit. Console games can have these kinds of complicated physics and varying effects but mobile games need to streamline in order to allow for players who aren't on the newest device.

    I like the engine type and weight idea mainly because of the effect it can have on speeders. There are just too many speeders at end game levels and this should help balance it a bit. Top speed + tank like HP + regen + disabling items.. So OP.
