Prepare for a rant full of my own opinions ;) Take it as you will

I have 2 major problems with my experience on Battle Bay, the battling in general, and guild recruitment. Let me explain them...

I have been playing Battle Bay for about a year now (estimate) and have mostly enjoyed my time, but in the past few months, I haven't been progressing at all. When I first started playing, the game was very fun, it was a unique change from the typical mobile game. When i first started playing, I had no idea that i was part of the pre-launch testing of the game as it hadn't been released globally yet. I played a couple battles, leveled up, and made a guild. Some of you many know my guild "Isle Captain". Making a guild and recruiting for it was SOOO easy. Not many people had one back then and I had dozens of people willing to join me, coming from Clash of Clans, this came as quite a surprise. Within a month, I had my guild full of loyal members who played the game regularly! Some of these players stopped playing after a while, but they were easily replaced by other active and great guild mates. Up until a few months ago the process of leading a guild was fun and motivating for me. Now with the global launch that all changed, more people treated the game I had grown to love like a satire and childish game. Guilds popped up from absolutely everywhere that competed for fame and the global chat was FILLED with little kids looking for attention (which I think we can all agree hasn't changed at all...). Before this I could send a friendly guild recruiting message to the global chat and receive some polite responses in which I would reply with the same politeness. Now I try posting a polite guild recruitment message on the global chat servers and 80% of the time I get completely ignored, and the other 20% is little kids who DO NOT qualify at all to join begging me to let them in. Not only that, but I have been ridiculed for my polite message because I had the "audacity" to ask for players with more infamy than the lowest person in my guild to join, which is pathetic. RECRUITING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! Every time I try to recruit the game feels more and more like Clash of Clans recruiting (don't even get me started on that). Now 5 people who were a major part of the guild have left for home guilds, or left for "better" guilds with higher level players. I am getting pretty irritated with the whole thing :/ .

While I was getting punched mentally in the neck from guild problems, my battles have been taking a nosedive. i am currently below 2900 infamy, which doesn't sound too bad, but I was 500 infamy higher..........2 months ago -_- I am getting so low in infamy that the entire battling process is getting to me. I have played thousands of 5 v 5 battles over the past year, nothing changes! It's all random, the map, the friendly's, the unfriendly's, the side of the map you spawn, and there is NO DIFFERENT GAME MODE!
Here's my perspective of battling: I will take my pathetic squirt gun weapons, join a random battle, on a random map, with random teammates, and random enemies, spawn on a random side, in a random place, and I'm expected to preform PERFECTLY with 70% wallet warriors and their legendary items attacking my recently nerfed (or balanced blah whatever) weak speeder relentlessly.
Every battle is the same, I can't change my weapons or boat at all because then I would under preform and cost my team the game, which is a no no. I can't practice using different weapons for the same reason. I'm just stuck in a tiny battlefield with my mk5 ship that I have been using forever competing against mk6 and even mk7 legends. You would not believe how much I want CHANGE!!! Change in game modes, change in weapons, change in boats, change in maps, etc etc.

My entire experience in the last couple of months has beaten me to the ground, and nothing is changing. I have invested MUCH of my time and money into this game, with dying results. That is why I need a break, mainly from battling, because I can't handle it where it's at right now :/ . I still want to spend some time on the forums and in game chatting, but WOW I need a break.

I hope you...enjoyed my rant :p It's full of many opinions that may not be justified, but this is my mindset right now.

I won't question your opinions, you have clearly given it a tought. I can understand your frustration. I'm playing together with wallet warriors all the time, most of the time I can outperform them, but just not enough to win all matches. Imagine what will happen if skilled free to play players suddenly got legendaries. Those wallet warriors won't stand a chance lol.

Coming from Clash of Clans and having lead a lvl 11, almost lvl 12 clan for a few years, I understand your frustration in regards to recruiting. That is why I completely left myself out of that equation in this game. It wasn't worth a repeat headache. But I do understand why you created one considering the time you've invested in the game. Maybe let other people do some recruiting on your behalf. Or work only off of forum recruiting. Usually the type of player you would find here is slightly better than global (only slightly, myself included. lol.).

As for the matches, I am one of those wallet warriors (I've spent more than some, less than others) but I do feel and share your frustrations in regards to infamy walls with the repetitive nature of the single gameplay mode. I would love to see a practice arena with bots, and a few other game modes including Team Death Matches. Something to shake up the monotony of battle, lose, battle, win, battle, lose, battle, lose. All based on your team mates, with no way to practice to get better. I feel as though making different game modes that aren't linked to infamy would be phenomenal for this game and bring about a whole new wave of players and more skill.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know you're not alone in those frustrations, they are shared by many. After nearly 5.5k battles, I share them too. Stay strong and keep faith in the developers to address the issues as they arise. I am sure they want this game to succeed just as much as you and I want it to. Good luck to you and I hope to see you out on the bay.

    -M

I have no doubt that the devs will add to the game and I plan to lay low until then if possible. (Unless something happens and I get my passion back). I would just love the option to switch ships when I want to without having to deal with the consequences. But I very much appreciate the time you spent into the response, thanks

I have been considering joining a guild yet, I am not ready to give up on my guild as I have a lot of history there. But if things continue to go sour then I will spend some time searching for a good guild. "The Other Guy" has mentioned a guild for active forum members. I would love to have a guild like that!

I feel your frustration. As a f2p I have to say that I have never seen a game where f2p are better than p2w who poured 10,000$+ into the game. In any other game I played that kind of money gets you instant win versus f2p

For sure, this game has many, many issues that prevented it from attracting a bigger audience at global launch. Even if you looked passed the slow gameplay (relatively to most games) , odd aiming system, and random matchmaking, you're greeted with p2w whales, difficult upgrade system, and rng based equipment. Tbh, I'm just waiting for Brawl Stars to release globally and playing BB to tide me over in the meantime.

I am sure at least one more guild will follow my lead. Going off the forum without (or very few) in-game requirements does have its drawbacks. My members are from ?600? to 3000 infamy. I think. but the average infamy is around 1200. ATM I am off. (not by choice ;), the device I use to play is lost)

I agree with all these comments. I to was a long time clasher 5 yrs to be honest. That being said I dont mind putting time and a little money in a game. By a little I mean the random diver pearls, big spender here lol. I enjoy well made games like this and I understand that this game def needs to be tweaked. I hope the devs are paying attention to this thread b/c if not I'm sure many other long time plyrs will get burned out as well. The infamy wall is a brutal monster, so a few different game modes would be great.

Until guild wars arrive or I crack an invite to seven seas, I'll likely stick with my little'uns.
It's a bit disappointing when my guildies get a bit up on infamy and immediately up and leave, but I'll probably live through it..

As for the golden boys, the upsurge seems neverending, and it can be a bit demoralising getting one shot by them, but it's very much not the end of the world.
It's satisfying to outplay them and way easier than trying to go up against Orpheus and the gang anyway, which I was getting far too used to.
More big infamy noobs gives me more diversity in matchmaking and I can actually impact the battles I'm in, instead of the old death or hidden potshot nonsense.

I do feel bad for the younger f2p crowd though, it seems almost impossible to bridge the gap without too much time in to put up with.
A bit of fun without competition might be exactly what's needed to keep them on long enough.

I've heard a couple of big leauge players quitting as well because of game tweaks and lack of options. I'm not sure how long it will take for some extra substance to be added into the game. But just a simple message from the devs saying something like, "a big update is coming" would get me roaring back into the game. I'm just waiting for the...big wave to come

You haven't reached the point of wallet warrior, you have less than five and none higher than lvl 5 (i think). You've also played the game enough that even without those legendaries you would still do great. While a true wallet warrior wouldn't be able to do jack-squat with their level 50 legendary sniper.

    Also nice streams ;)

    Agree.

Chat : too many channel, and no moderator.

Fight: start to be boring (you explained why)

Guild: leaved my first guild, stayed 15day alone, and finally get into another guild just for a normal chat... Except this... Well it serve at Nothing

Growth: im at 2,2k infamy, now i see boat with 2 legendary item really often... I ve paid a little (3epic box), played at least 3h a day since 4 month. so if im good in math, will got a legendary in 1 year... So always with math/statistic more player will get quickly legendary, so i guess that i will get down in infamy really fast.
So much time lost for that is really a problem.

Boat: well, got 5 boat and will never use the 4 other boat (or i choose to lost massive infamy) .

Finally got the choice of leaving or making random shit.

Bot battles and Intra-Guild battles where you can casually goof off with friends is very needed. I'd love to just play around on the bay sometimes without the stress of performing.

We need are chat rooms based on infamy to keep all the trolls in one place and as for the guilds wars and other features, I don't think they will come on time. Seen it happen to a lot of games. This won't be the first one.

You just described the alpha --> launch situation of pretty much every modern game. If you were part of the undoubtedly much nicer alpha community, be happy that you got that experience. There's nothing to be done about the nosedive it takes when a game opens to everyone and gets infested by the general public.

As for boats and weapons, yeah, it kinda sucks. The further you get in the game, the more you realize you're locked into one setup, because you can't really swap anything, because that means needing to level up items from scratch, which takes an eternity.

The common thread: Give us just a little variety somehow. The more it involves hanging with players you like the better.
