I love my trusty fixer. I really do. But ever since the last update it has left me feeling like more of a liability than an asset. Try as I might to delve into other ship types, I find that my trusty Mk3 fixer is the most fun. I figured maybe a post here might inspire the powers that be to help the fixers to help the strangers they're helping. (IOW: Help us fixers help you!)

    The issues:
    • Self-Healing saw a palpable reduction, making me a squishy version of my former self.
    • Repair Bolt requires two slots, yet offers no self heals to compensate for the loss of Healing Pulse.
    • Box Launcher remains superior to Duct Tape in every way, healing more players, on a shorter cooldown, for more HP.
    • Nerfing Overboost makes us reliant on Nitro, which helps to avoid AoE, but diminishes our ability to reach other players in need of heals.
    • Healing output is not factored well in post-battle star awards, which is a poor incentive for anyone hoping to level their equipment.

Some of these are the result of max-level design decisions geared toward a level of play I haven't reached yet, but it would be nice if the developers would make things just a little better for those of us who choose to spend our battles keeping our friends alive.

    Thanks!

I'm a shooter myself but I agree with your points. Especially regarding the battle stars. I've been in some battles where we just had no hope of winning if it weren't for the fixer. So much effort from the fixer to be only rewarded with last place and 1 battle star. I too think fixers deserve better rewards (most of the time, I'm looking at you fixers with dual ductape, you deserve zero stars)

That's due to a glitch with how fire bonus damage is being attributed in star calculations.

Two fixers will almost always dominate if they coordinate. My experience isn't at this high-level of the game. Mid-range healing seems disproportionately affected by the most recent changes.

the fixers used at the vid were mk5, some had double pulses and some had pulse+ double repair boxes. those fixers didnt get hit hard by the nerf compared to mk4 and below , who can only carry a single pulse and a box or duct tape. they shold have left mk4 and below alone and just nefed mk5 and above. all lower level fixers got the short end of the stick on this update.

Worth keeping in mind that Porthos posts highlights - I love his positive style of videos and commentary, but for every game like these there are tons where you face off against a top speeder & is assasinated within a minute :)

I would gladly pick the 1 Fixer team in 1vs2 Fixer situations -- You need firepower to kill unfriendlies!

I think the logic is the other way around; meaning that the purpose was to nerf mk3+4 Fixers (and perhaps mk5) but it was done in a way that makes high end fixing worse as an uintended consequence. Mk6 Fixers weren't dominating the leaderboards before & did not (in my opinion) need a nerf. I was vastly outperforming (in terms of infamy) every other kind of boat when I was mk3+4 though, and to some extend still do so at mk5.

Being a Mk5 Fixer with double pulse I would argue that the patch has severely limited my tactical options in games, my selfhealing has been cut in half & my mobility took a slap also (which was fair enough, OB vs Nitro was a nobrainer pick before).
Before the patch I could be aggresive when needed, I could soak a few hits for a dying teammate & taking 1 massive hit wasn't as desperately critical as it is now. After the patch I'm left with playing a passive waiting game, hiding in the shadows & behind rocks, relying on teammates to know that Fixers are purely defensive now.

The sky isn't falling, but man you need to be cautions as a fixer now (and hope you aren't facing off against a good speeder).
