    famous is to fame
    as
infamous is to infamy --- you propose infame but i think thats a question for some uber linguist, which i dont know if anyone here is...
EDIT: i googled infame and its a verb like defame... so that ought to solve this

But then shouldn't "fame" be a verb rather than a noun?

Fame is also a verb, but I actually don’t know why the noun isn’t “Famy”. Lmao

    IIRC infamy IS a noun.
"His infamy in the seven seas spread with word of his deeds."
"He was infamous in every corner of the seven seas"

Checked it out on google, infamy is a noun. Infamous is an adjective then, I guess?

Fame, to my knowledge, is, like infamy, not a verb but a noun.

Pardon me for the grammar nazism, I'm preparing for a verbal exam hehe

I do have one interesting thing for those of you who love english:

We have a single word for throwing someone out of a window. It's "defenestration"
But we STILL cannot say "the day after tomorrow" in a single word :p :D

    Yes, that’s so weird!
I Dutch we have overmorrow (overmorgen) , is much better than “the day after tomorrow” ;)

Yeah. I just don't understand why the conversion from adjective to noun goes differently when a prefix is added.
    Famous goes to Fame.
    Infamous goes to Infamy.

We all need to try as hard as we can to use "defenestration" whenever possible.
We also have "vomitorium"… believe it or not, it refers to the aisle-like exits out of a stadium.

You guys also have "avarechts"… having the reverse effect of that for which something was intended. We need something like that here.

And the Germans have "Schadenfreude"… the pleasure derived from witnessing the pain of others.

*Apparently the correct spelling is "averechts". Thanks @Nikkie!

    Another thing:
How many people succeed at saying

    “Arbeidsongeschiktheidsverzekering”?
    It means “disability insurance”

(It isn’t that difficult, come on ;))
