Would love to see an option for the use of a controller or joystick!

    Hello Devs and fellow Bayers,

Truthfully I have a hard time playing with my thumbs on a slippery screen. I never liked it, but also because of my back I cannot hold my tablet for very long periods of time and look down at it. Looking down is hard for me, which you always have to do with a phone or tablet.

It is much easier to use a controller instead, it plays better and would make my life easier. Because then I can put my tablet on a stand and rest my arms on my legs, which is less painful in my case. I need to ly down often and then I can even play while lying down with a stand and again resting my arms.

But my physical problems aside, would you agree that a controller would make things better?

    Regards,
    Flint

    We need the following controls:
Weapon switch: 6 or minimum 2 buttons, still will never be a intuitive as on touchscreen.
Weapon lead: A button and a stick. Why? Because lead.
    Propulsion: One analog
    Pings: Again two buttons minimum.

I guess you could map it to a PS joystick, with:
L1 L2 and R1 R2 shoulder buttons as command and weapon selection
Square as fire, O to lock targets, and the arrow buttons to switch between targets
Left analog for propulsion and right analog for weapon leading

Personally, I think this game would be a nightmare to play on a controller, but if it was me, this is the map I'd use;)

Yes, but as I said I cannot sit for very long periods of time. So, that won't work either for me.

Today I spoke several people in the Chill Zone who also would like to use a controller. Some just have sweaty hands and others just think it will give them a much better gaming experience!

So, hope to restart the discussion again.

    Please, react to this post!

    Thanks!

I use a controller which is directly attached to a tablet.
    My config is as follows:
    Movement - Left analog
    Camera - Right analog
Item select - Face buttons & shoulder buttons
    Fire - Right trigger
    Cancel - Left trigger
Target lock - Directional buttons (Left / Right to switch, down to toggle)
    Shot Leading - Touchscreen
    Commands - Touchscreen

To have completely controller based controls could be possible however if one of the shoulder buttons was a toggle button that switched between camera and shot leading, though this would probably require controller support from the application itself

Thanks for you reply! Do you use a separate app to use a controller? If so, which one and what device are you using?

There you go. I personally wouldn't recommend it however since it's really bulky and heavy, and it's a bit dated. Only reason I have it is because they come cheap now, got mine for £40

Thanks! I will check it out, although I think it is to big for me, because I use a 10" tablet. I do have a small controller, which I bought for Battle Bay, but back then I did not know I could not use it in this game, sadly. The idea was to use a small controller, so I can rest my hands on my lap and put my tablet on a stand. This way I get less problems with my neck, arms and hands.

    But thanks anyway!

    Regards,
    Flint

You could try mirroring your phone/tablet screen onto a TV or monitor. That wouldn’t solve your ‘slippery’ issue, but at least you could look up, and just use your phone as a controller.

Alternatively, you can run Battle Bay in an Android emulator, such as Blue Stacks. You’d need a decent PC, but I’m ‘almost’ you’d be able to map a controller to that, with a bit of tinkering.

My brother told me something similar, he talked about a Google Chrome cast or something like that. I don't know if it could work. Holding and using a controller is less painful for my hands than a tablet or phone. Hard to explain why, but that is just the way it is. And I don't want to bother you with my disabilities too much.

    Flint
