Recently upgraded to an mk7 shooter. Consistently losing matches, my teammates can have a thousand points more infamy than me and get destroyed in a matter of a minute. The matches I am winning my gold take is way down. I can have highest damage and kills and rank 5th with no stars. There seems to be something seriously wrong with the awards and the matching if you have an mk7 I've noticed many others with MK7's also with really low infamy as well. I've dropped 1000 points. 2600 down to 1600. Still have the same weapons going as I did with the MK6.

A lot of people that upgrade ships seem to experience this (me included). Apparently the matchmaking determines who is on which team by infamy and ship mark, among other things. I think you are getting decreased rewards because you are in the infamy tanking zone (800 below your highest ever infamy). This makes matches harder and gives less rewards to keep infamy tankers from cheating.

You are being punished for being 800 infamy lower than your highest point. It sucks but the only way out is to get back within 800. Been there a few times and it sucks.

    Hmm ...

Does this feel like your progressing through the game? Do you feel stronger?

Or, would you say that you regret upgrading your ship? Is the game encouraging the right things?

I thought the game should make the ship upgrades actually mean something, rather than allowing a mk5 to have all the same bonuses as your mk7 ..

    https://forum.battlebay.net/threads/take-2-new-skill-tree.21726/

    D. Mk Upgrades
The current Skill Tree does a great deal to boost ship stats, but the Mk ship upgrades themselves are negligible - often less than one shot's damage worth of HP. This negligible upgrade immediately forces players into tougher matches, often decreasing their infamy and making them regret their decision to upgrade. As such, players are encouraged to train for crew bonuses, but keep their lower Mk ships for easier infamy and event matches.

Under the proposed Skill Tree, the ship Mk bonuses would be limited to their respective level in the Skill Tree, e.g., a Mk2 is limited to Tier 2 and lower bonuses. Thus, players would be encouraged to upgrade their ship levels to take advantage of more of the Skill Tree bonuses.

Additionally, as each ship level (with its respective tier bonuses) would be a much more significant upgrade, players would feel as though they are progressing and getting stronger - and should increase their infamy.

This change should also decrease the range of infamy between players using the same ship level - which would appear more "fair" to the players that have an issue seeing ships two Mk levels above theirs in matches.

Not sure how hard it is for them to track damage in matches..... seems that would tell you real fast who's trying & who's tanking.

Those of you that said it would come back were right. Got infamy back up to 2400-2500 and the rewards increased along the way. Team matching improved as well. Just took some time and patience.

Using MK level in ship matchmaking was a knee-jerk reaction to players complaining about infamy tankers, but IMO that was a red herring patch to a problem the Devs still haven't fixed. IMO Matchmaker(tm) should include boats based on a tight infamy range, then balancing sides by ship type, and that's it. Instead, balancing also distributes MK level ships evenly between sides.

As a newly upgraded MK7 now you are getting offset by longer-time MK7's on the other side and your ship "upgrade" was effectively a downgrade, until you too can build up your items to match those long-time MK7's. It's one of the core issues I have with Battle Bay's matchmaking system. Upgrade should imply progression, without exception.

Some kind of guide would be nice to help with this issue. Something along the lines of before you upgrade your ship you want your weapons to be this level.

It's an issue Battle Bay has. When you upgrade your mk you get 'less chance to win' matches. Hopefully they fix it soon so you can continue to enjoy the game...

There was another thread on this, and those item levels were debated.

For MK6 I was thinking T4R/T2E level weapons across the board were a fair minimum, no less, plus a few higher than that. Others were saying T4E or T5E, but screw that, I myself only got my second T4E weapon at Captain Level 47 (nearly MK7 level, as a Shooter), so that requirement was unrealistic for me.

I'm thinking 4-5 out of 7 at T5E level is a good rule of thumb for a safe MK7 upgrade. Most just ignore the advice, upgrade sooner, and flail around for a while in their fancy new boat threatening the Infamy drop penalty levels. In fact I have a Guildmate in that predicament right now due to recent MK7 upgrade.

PS: players should be exempt from that infamy drop penalty right after a boat upgrade for a time... it's a real problem that the Battle Bay Devs created with their faulty balancing algorithm.
