I would like to see some rebalancing of Speeder. When they nerfed Speeder hp,
@Stebbi wrote that there needs to be some trade-off between speed and hp, but I’m no longer clear on why that is? The Speeder’s regular speed is absolutely no defence at a high level, except against mortars (which no one uses). Flares and point damage weapons are still easy to land. And frankly, OB speed isn’t much better.
It has always been my feeling that Speeder is quite a squishy, underpowered ship, with borderline ‘inadequate’ weapon slots. The only thing that made Speeder good was its access to powerful Yellow items, but those items have slowly been eroded, and the Speeder, laid bare, is just not a good ship.
To exemplify this, almost everyone I discuss my ship with, tells me I need to run a Flare combo if I want to reach NML. But why is that? Flare is probably the most OP **** in the game right now, badly needing a nerf. Why is that considered the only viable build?
If we’re going to contend that EC, Frost and Stun are now balanced (which seems to be the Dev’s position), and that Flare and Tesla Shield need a nerf (which they arguably do). Where does that leave Speeder? These are all the items that were propping it up. To make matters worse we’ve also handed Shooters the utility to Frost and Stun through perks.
Speeder needs to be a good ship in its own right, with better surviabity. That to me, means either more speed, a lot more hp, or better DPS potential (independent of burn combos).
