New Event: CTF version 2.0 Feedback

    I don't know about this event. I'm at a 90% loss rate. I've tried defending, carrying the flag, escorting, Shooter, Speeder... I don't know what my teammates are doing. Every time I get a flag back to base it's always empty except for enemy ships... and 4 teammates seem incapable of killing the enemy flag carrier. Only twice in 20 matches has my team been able to return the flag while I'm sitting there waiting. I must be having a string of bad luck.

    Speaking of which, I'm sure glad I saved up coins to draw a Legendary Mortar perk in this event. It'll do well sitting in inventory along with the only other Legendary perk the game has given me.. wait for it... the same exact Legendary Mortar perk that I never bothered to put on an item. My RNG luck in this game is that bad... consistently.

    At least the coins for losses isn't bad.

    Every body playing only for the coins. Not for the winnings. Bcoz, the reward given by flag carrier & capture. When I took the flag and back to base, my friendly ship speeders didn't protect me, and they waiting for I m dying. Then they take the flag to base for coins. Shooters & defenders also didn't defend the green circle. They also trying to carry the flag. When the reward given by equal to all players, then the team, play their role.

    I seriously hope that they change the flag zone of Destruct 9 because this place have its flag right in front of its spawn zone wtf? Even in normal CTF its already hard but when 1 capture CTF, almost all game ends in a draw ugh!!!

    Yup... That is the problem now. Each and every yellow/green ship is just trying to take enemy flag. No matter what. Even if there are only 200 hp left =(

    Well... And dumb players are also a problem. As always =)
    Example: our shooter/defender is carrying enemy flag. Only one enemy ship is following him. All other ships are battling somewhere else. I ran with my speeder and stun that enemy (for more than 12 seconds), and our flag carrier shoots him immediately. WTF, man?! Why????

    Does anyone think its not that fun. Last event was long but was way more fun. Dont know what exactly wrong.
    Also in some maps capturing is too easy n in some specially destruct 9 camping is too easy.

    It is less fun experience wise, especially if you're not a speeder. But farming coins is much better in this mode.

    The game should have enjoyment as the first priority instead of farming. The current CTF is only good for coins but nothing else. Wasting boosters on these matches cost more than the coins won.

    Add fleet of 3s or at least a voice chat.
    you can strategize, plan, and chat, who doesnt like chatting without keyboards?

    some BASIC ideas:
    praise the ship: 2 fixers run off with a ship in the lead.
    the ship gets the flag, while fixers follow behind. when ship 1 dies, fixer 1 will be right behind to catch the flag, and when the fixer 1 dies, fixer 2 will follow up and supposedly finish the marathon.
    and say, if fixer 2 dies, youll have ship 1 to run back and finish it again.

    the wall: 2 defenders / enforcers with a speeder / duck tape fixer
    defenders and enforcers stay in front of speeder, speeder gets the flag.
    then you all turn around and the hp / bubble will defend the speeder while she runs and gets the win

    Immediately after I posted this (At 4 wins in 26 matches) I immediately won 4 straight and a draw, and then it was back to a 50/50 ratio... maybe better. Due to a general lack of escorts in all my matches, which continues now, I switched back to Shooter, where I can successfully run all 3 ways: defend, capture, and escort. While I was fearful that this event would be a Speederfest, and that remains true as far as coins go, Speeders seem to be struggling getting the flag back and need help... but most players are just not good at recognizing that.

    The real key is this fact which I posted about last week: When I jump in Speeder, I see mostly Speeders in my matches. When I jump in Shooter, I see mostly Shooters in my matches. It's a verified flaw in both the EventMatchmaker(tm) and the Matchmaker(tm) algorithms, and it remains true in this event. Teams with 2 Speeders and 2-3 Shooters mixed in with Defenders/Enforcers are well balanced, and Strategies work well. Teams with a ton of Speeders are not all that effective, and two teams of them results in random outcomes. That's been the difference in my matches. The Devs really need to pay attention to these matchmaking flaws.

    This is a great event for speeders. As long as the speeder is the flag carrier, the speeder will rack up coins either his/her team won, lost, or draw. Because of this event I used my mark 4 speeder extensively. Also got the speeder 50-win achievement. I won a lot by fleeting with another speeder (defender main also). My speeder friend will be the red flag carrier and i escort him until he's near the green area. Then I'll run to and kill the green flag carrier. He'll capture once I retrieved the green flag.

    I’ve been playing capture the flag so much, thanks for the update that one capture wins the game, made the game so much faster. But there is something that keeps making me so frustrated and it’s when I’m a fixer healing the person with the flag, and then it says that I healed him enough that I saved him from dying. But when the points come out, I always get the least even though without me healing we might’ve lost. Please can you fix this to makes things a bit more fair, cheers. Love this game.

    Hopefully they shelve this event never to see the light of day again (well, not without drastic changes). Will they run an event that significantly favours shooters? We've had the defenders and now two weeks worth of yellows, fixer is never gonna get any love, so must be the shooters turn next event (had better be).

    erm shooters had the first what month or so, think they've got a while to wait ;)

    I loved this event, was easy to gain coins in either speeder or defender, the 1 cap wins meant that if your team sucked you didn't have to wait ages to lose when it was known after 20 seconds who would win! Can't wait to see what they do next I would love a fixer event but just can't see it somehow.

    When i play as a fixer and we won the game, I was behind the speeder with the flag the whole time taking all the damage protecting him while healing him at the same time, if it wasn't for me he wouldn't have survived on his own but guess what I got 0 coins !!! while on the losing team the last one got 3 coins and the first got 9 !!! (this happened to me 2 times ) what the point of winning at this point I don't know how this is fair for the other ships.
    When I play as a shooter I get to play defense and protect the flag when we win and I do most of the damage in the game guess what I get either 6 or 7 coins maybe 8 if I got lucky but that rarely happens and the speeder who capture the flag with maybe sometimes did 0 damage get 10 coins !!!
    I know speeders that have finished the event 5 times while other struggle finishing it the first time because they don't play as a speeder, maybe I should only play as a speeder and get all the coins the easy way.
    The event is really great but you just need to fix the coins distribution more fairly.

    My review of the event

    The Good
    • It was fun... went a little better than I expected.
    • I thought it would be a Speederfest, and while it was, defense could successfully counteract the Speeders.

    However, tweaks need to made before bringing back a 1-capture event.

    The Bad
    • - Good defense meant too many draws. Proper event design has minimal draws.
    • - Streaky. I had at least two streak where I didn't have a win in a dozen straight matches. That's never happened to me in Event or Ranked matches.
    • - We need capture areas marked on the maps... not just flag position.

    The Ugly
    • From a coin perspective flag carriers (read: Speeders) got most of the coins. That's not an accurate reflection of contribution.
    • Some defense areas were placed too far from spawn. I was frequently beaten to my own flag by opposing Speeders as soon as the match started. There's a whole hornet's nest of issues resulting from that situation, but let's just say it is imperative that defense should be able to get in place before attackers.
    • We still have the matchmaking issue that results in too many boat duplicates in matches. Maybe it's just happening with me, but I backed this up with stats in the prior event.

    I didn't have much time to play this weekend, only managed 15 matches ( 8 Wins, 2 Losses, 5 draws ~ resulting in a 100 coin haul), but here is my feedback.

    Good, maybe
    1. Average coins (for me, based on my games) were 7 for a Win, 5 for a Loss, 6 for a Draw. Not too bad, but not great either.
    Not So Good
    • Didn't feel the event was that much fun, and as predicted, dominated by speeders (who got most of the coins for holding flag).
    • Spawn/re-spawn points were an issue, as was the fact that re-spawning in a majority if cases put your ship in an awkward position which was frustrating if you needed to defend your capture point.
    In most of the matches, I concentrated on flag defense and to chase down captures (vs speeders – hard in a shooter, a little easier in an enforcer with nitro and OB).
    Others have posted that the rewards are not commensurate with contribution (eg fixers) and to a certain extent, I concur. However, I cannot draw any definite conclusion from my own matches based on the limited play that I had. Certainly, I averaged better coins per W/L/D match compared to previous CTF event, but it's from a limited sample.
