Flare gun?...

    Crew talent can get your flare speed to 22.8, which is really really easy to hit enemies, even speeders with some leading. I personally use a range perk on my flare, gets the range up to 24.2. The flare is still frigin powerful after that.

    Could you please show me the math about how you come to around 2100 damage per shot? my max t5 epic shows me 82/tick... mutiplied by 23 seconds thats around 1880 damage per shot. Or do i calculate it in the wrong way?
    For the rest of your points I agree with you...

    It's not a point damage weapon, it's a Damage over Time(DoT) weapon. DoT weapons in most MOBA titles are known to be a little higher than their point damage counterparts, the reason being the nature of the damage.

    I use a legendary flare, so it was a guess based on the damage I've taken from the MEp flare in matches ... but there's a 10% or so RNG calculation in how much damage it actually does.

    I know it goes up to at least 86/sec, but it may be higher once all your captain training is maxed or with damage perks. But, thanks, I edited the post.

    Well, technically, I don't think the carronade is considered a point damage weapon in this game either. So, I supposed I should say gun-type weapon.

    And I get why the total damage would be a little higher, but it's significantly higher than its point damage counter part (e.g., the 1-slot blast cannon), on top of curbing your healing and making you susceptible to burn damage bonuses ... which can quickly stack up in the thousands in extra damage and lost heals.

    To be clear, I think they they nerfed the wrong thing when they nerfed ECs .. the EC was a good counter to tesla shields and was only overpowered when combined with the flare or firebomb. But, any nerf to the flare now, in the DB meta, would only serve to further strength DBs - by removing another counter to it.

    DB? Double Bubble? I don't have flare gun, but can deal with that DB. My blast cannon deals about 1550 dmg per hit and can remove 90% of all TSs for sure (in my level of battles). More epic perks for it and it will remove them all =)
    Also double swift torps can help a bit. Not so easy to hit, but 1450 and 1750 dmg... I just want to try flare gun paired with a lot of fire perks for cannons =)
    But that will take time...

    I forgot a major advantage .. revised list for max epic flare:
    • Ignores Defense
    • 1,900 - 2,000 Damage (2nd highest gun-type dps behind carronade)
    • 10.2 Second Cooldown (w/ leg perk)
    • Reduces healing by 30%
    • 23 Seconds of Burning (where the target is exposed to up to an additional 73% damage per shot by cannon-type weapons)
    • Similar range and projectile speed of a blast cannon.
    • oh, and it often gives you a 3rd star - even if you're doing significantly less damage than the teammates getting 2*s.

    My least favorite part is the cannons doing so much more damage
