Flare gun?...

    Ok, I understand that Flare + any cannon with "burning" perks combination is pretty awesome. Many players use it...
    But what I don't understand is the combination of Flare + cannons with NO burning perks at all.
    Why do you choose Flare in that case? Isn't it better to change it for something that deals same amount of dmg, but instantly?!

    Flare is just good in general, + it gives boost for other players. Another huge plus is that it slows healing

    Flare also limits healing when trained up a bit, plus fire for contributions/stars I'm guessing. Sometimes I'll run double blast flare, sometimes swift torp, sniper and blast lol.

    The bhurt crew tree also has options for additional burn damage on the cannons

    Firing a flare by itself is like firing a blast cannon in terms of dmg (full duration), after u gain all the flare trainings. Its projectile speed is also almost the same like the blast. So its great for people who can't use the blast cannon due to talent conflicts with sniper cannon. Again this is before all the other cannon bonus dmg, extra contribution for stars (even extra coins for events), and heal reduction.

    This. For example, I'm currently running double blast flare. But, I'm slowly working my way toward a 2nd Leg sniper from achievement (first was lucky combine). So once I can get there, I'm gonna swap out the blasts completely. The flare will be a near constant feature of any loadout I use

    I'm planning a double flare grenade "pyro" enforcer build. As a flare user, I know what it feels like to be on fire and constantly expecting to get shot, HARD. People panic sometimes, under that kind of pressure.

    The flare is also a fixers nightmare. That heal reduction is the same as extra damage. If the fixer healing is reduced by 300 or more each time, that's a massive bonus from the flare gun.

    I was told by a good source hi lvl flares also break Tesla sheilds so that's another reason .

    Flare duration training and perks are calculated up front against Tesla shield, so anything smaller than a T5 epic shield will pop to a flare. Great against yellows who might run away as well and there is training in Bhutto which increase fire damage.

    TL; DR version. They're a really good weapon

    So .. I'm not sure if you've heard about the max epic flare gun ....
    • It does around 2,000 damage per shot (more than a blast or EC with damage perks).
    • Has a 10.2 second cooldown (w/ leg perk) -
    • Has a similar range and projectile speed to a blast cannon.
    • Is the 2nd highest dps point damage weapon in the game (to carronade)
    • That also reduces all ship repairing by 30%
    • And subjects unfriends to up to 73% in extra burning damage per cannon shot.
    • It burns for up to 23 seconds,
    • can break most T shields in the game ...
    • oh, and often gives you a 3rd star - even if you're doing significantly less damage than the teammates getting 2*s.
    Yeah, I'll be running dual flares in the future.

    I've only got a t2 epic flare lol... Still does 600ish damage over 16s. I fancy running a triple flare and double blast shooter at some point if RNGesus is kind

    A flare nerf would be a bigger nerf for enfos, speeders and defenders than shooters ... so it won't happen.

    I don't mind it's damage, but right now in my shop... It has really lower range and projectile speed than my blast cannon.
    Range - 24.2 vs 22
    Speed - 25.2 vs 19.3
    Maybe some crew skills can change that...
