    The devs have given us Capture The Flag, a brand new game mode!

    The overall goal in this mode is to capture your opponents flag more times than they capture yours. Sounds simple enough...​

    Gameplay Tips
    • You can only capture the enemy flag if your flag has been returned to your base.
    • When you kill the enemy flag carrier, you have to run over the flag to return it to your base.
    • While carrying the flag, your ship speed is capped at 1.5
    • If you use Overboost or Nitro while carrying the flag, you will drop it. Try to activate your Overboost just before you pick up the flag.
    • If a friendly ship with a flag is destroyed, the flag is dropped and can be picked up again.
    • Mines cannot be place inside flag bases.
    • Mine duration is reduced by 80% in CTF.
    • At the end of normal battle time, if the score is tied and any flag is not in home base, an additional 1 minute is added. Battle ends immediately if a team scores or both flags are returned to home base.
    • Every ship can do well in this event, but each ship does have it's own role. Try to adapt your role during the game to be what your team needs.
    • Shooters are best for defense and flag escorting.
    • Fixers are outstanding for flag escorting. Selfish fixers can also be great flag carriers.
    • Speeders and Enforcers are great flag carriers if they use Tesla Shields. Tesla Stun users can be great flag escorts to protect their teammates.
    • Defenders are excellent for playing defense and carrying the flag if they have escorts.

    How to earn more coins (in order of most coins to least)
    1. Carrying and capturing the flag.
    2. Shooting/killing the enemy flag carrier.
    3. Returning your flag.
    4. Healing your flag carrier.
    5. Doing a lot of damage.

    Overall Tips
    • You win by getting more captures than the unfriends.
    • You do NOT earn stars for guild quest during this event!
    • Fleeting is now allowed. Try to fleet as close in gear score as possible.
    • Try to run your most reliable, meta setups. You'll be matched against evenly geared opponents, so if their weapon is more reliable, they will probably win.

    Matchmaking Tips
    These tips are what I’ve gathered from personal experience and discussions with other well-known members and devs. If something I’ve stated is incorrect and the devs would like to chime in, they are welcome.
    • There is currently a bug where players with normal setups are receiving the "Unusual Combination" message when they hit Battle. It doesn't affect anything and the devs are working on it.
    • Matchmaking (MM) is based on “Power”. Power is a combination of your shown gear score and crew training. Review the gear score of your teammates and enemies often. If you are consistently getting matched against players with a much higher gear-score than you.....
    • There is an “anti-exploiting” rule that is affecting a lot of players. Basically, if you equip an item that is roughly 2-3 tiers below your highest item (for example, equipping an epic t3 and an epic t5) then you will be seen as an exploiter and the lower item will be given a higher gear score. Therefore, the best strategy is to equip items of all the same tier.
    • Infamy is no longer used at all in event matchmaking.

    Reward Requirements:
    You purchase one of three boxes for 35 coins that contains either parts, pieces, or perks. Once you have spent 900 coins, you get the Legendary Perk for free.
    Here are the possible purchases:

    For the piece and perk box, you are guaranteed one legendary piece or epic perk every 10 boxes, respectively.

    DO NOT SPEND YOUR COINS UNTIL YOU HAVE 910! COINS WILL ROLL OVER TO THE NEXT EVENT, BUT LEGENDARY METER WILL RESET.

    It might be beneficial to save 1050 coins if you are getting pieces/perks so you don’t miss out on the 10th box reward.
    If you average 5 coins per game, that is 180 games required to earn a Legendary perk.
    That is roughly 15 hours of gameplay (estimated average of 5-minute games).

    iam saving them till i make them 4550 =5 legendary perks + 130 item pieces (at least 13 of them will be legendary )

    IDEA : 2 double nitro speeders fleet ,
    one activate his OB then take the flag then the other one follow him with his nitros and when his OB duration is over then he activate a nitro (he drop the flag ) then the other one activate his OB and then take the flag and repeat , and ofc they both will take a long safe way away from other ships

    i Haven't tried it .and i cant try it because my nitro CD is so long because i have retrained for carronade talents since iam a shooter now

    Does it really matter?
    setups/strategies (only my observations and feelings):
    • flare+blast/ex cannon shooter-base defender, I am able to do 10k+ damage regulary with my mk4 and sometimes over 20k damage, perfect for destroying enemies before they get to your flag, if tanky enough, can sit in base with enemy flag until friendly flag is returned, not really escort unless equipped with good turbo, is too slow to effectively escort speeders/enfos/tape fixers who carry flag
    • tape fixer-perfect flag carrier, fast and with good enough tapes (almost) invincible (met exploiter with tape fixer, he was able to regen to full hp even under concentrated fire of 3 shooters-flares, cannons and torps)
    • enfo-good flag carrier when equiped with good turbo and tesshields and/or tesla bolts, also good escort
    • speeder-awesome flag carrier, fast and agile enough to easily bring flag to base without dying, can work as good escort due to it's ability annoy people so it may work as "magnet"
    • defender-might be good carrier because it has big hp but it's slow, so it's easy target, bad escort because it's slow, good for base defense
    mines might seem to be useless due to the only 20% duration time, but they are still deadly, maybe even more
    this works at mk4, not sure if the roles are same at lower/higher MKs:)

    Get a fast speeder with good overboost/nitro, take the flag, know your shortest route and go

    If shortest route crowded, take longest safest route and hide somewhere if your flag not in the zone yet

    Basically play like a selfish coward lol

    Whoever at Rovio thought this was a good idea honest to god needs to be fired. If you don't have a top tier speeder/shield there's basically nothing to do here.

    I had few battles with my meta shooter setup (meta because consisting of lots of fire and cannons), and my job was making sure our flag is safe. And it was really FUN chasing all the yellow boats trying to carry our flag away.
    What I wanna say, If you understand your job, you can do great this event even without being a yellow ship. ;)

    It doesn't work if the enemy team has a bunch of yellow ships, tho, then you wanna defend.

    Edit: why would having a lot of yellow ships matter? tesla bolts?

    I've tried hitting overboost right before I pickup the flag. As soon as my speeder takes control of the flag, my speed is reduced to the maximum speed allowed (1.5). So I don't think this method would work.
    What has worked are: Two speeders follow each other and when the first one gets killed, the 2nd one is right behind and picks up the flag to continue.
    Also, the meta for me so far has been Double Bubble Enforcer as the flag carrier. My bubbles aren't very good, but good enough to get at least one capture per match.

    i was gonna save them up to 1.8k but then keane shatter showed me his 1.9k coins and said he will save them up to 3850 , so i couldn't let him beat me so i said i will do better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ,

    it is too much , but 13

    now 1.6k(third event )

    I could understand stars for capturing the flag or returning it or killing the carrier, but these guys just pick it up and die and get coins

    They have the most control, which tape does not help against. They also usually carry flare guns and have no problem keeping up with fixers. It's easier to escape a shooter or defender, especially when cutting corners using a rudder.
