Matchmaking Curiosity (again)

I don’t understand why this ship, mk4 with 7.5k hp, and t5 rare weapons, is getting matched against mk3s and mk4s.

Yet when I run this ship, mk3 with 5.9k hp, and only a single t5 Rare, I’m consistently matched against mk5s?

Why am I being given much harder matches, than someone with a higher captain level, more hp, and a better ship and items?

 

I can't actually play the new event because for some reason my normal setup that i used to use in previous events is now considered "unusual" so i get paired against mk7's. How is mine unusual when i see ships intentionally lowering their gear score like the ones in their example getting by just fine?

This is exactly what i use in the normal mode and what i have used in previous events so whatever addition/change they made to the formula has pretty much booted me from the event this time.

Why is the top enemy allowed to have roughly the same gear strength as the rest, while I get matched with players with significantly stronger gear?

 

EventMatchmaker(tm) only worries about balancing Gear Score on both sides, further tweaked by a power rating (training?)... the MK or Gear Score variance between participants is all over the board... for better or worse.

I'm actually surprised to see either of you getting fair matches. When I jump in an MK2 I'm matched with MK6-MK7. That's fair, right?

 

Even games in my regular boat are suspect.

Here’s one of me with Banderas... Count the Rare items in that game, see if you can spot who doesn’t belong.

 

Take off your epic perks and you'll get setup against mk2s and 3s

 

I wish i had enough pearls lying around to not care about throwing away 100+ just to take off perks =/

 

You can get them from raffle. It's worth the nonstop 10 coin wins...

 

Once I was playing my normal set up and I was the only mk5 amongst mk4s. It was easy for me, but we still lost because my teammates had lower gearscore than opponents thanks to my higher gearscore.

Duh, there cheating and its allowed.
Us regular players have to deal with it until we get feed up and delete the app

 

No matter which boat I use, I'm usually paired with players with GS from 8k to 11k, I think it's pretty balanced by gear (when we talk about skill, it's just a crazy lottery )

 

Dunno what happened but this is what I used. Is training taken into account?

Yeah taking off perks help but I really dont want to spend a lot pearls taking off perks. Even 200 pearls is too much as I would put them back on in the time between events then have to use another 200 pearls for the next event.

 

Why another 200 pearls after the event? Only taking them off costs pearls. Not putting them on

I don't doubt that. IMO, the solution is to incorporate all that extra complexity into Gear Score to make Gear Score itself more accurate, then matchmaking becomes less complex.
