EVERYONE! I know we have all been waiting for the anniversary update and hyped, but I think the Event complaints are too much. We should all be thankful that we even have an update because it's Rovio's game, not ours. How do we reward the people who made the update possible? By complaining about the event perks and matchmaking. Yes, I know you can get the wrong perk but that's how the game works, do you want everything handed to you? We call they legendary for a reason. Anyway, you can just change your playstyle to fit the new perk on a new item.

Lol change your Playstyle for a fixer perk when you don't play fixer. That makes zero sense.

That means you don't have to change your playstyle. Just your items.

... yes? That sounds kinda nice, why would I not want that?

But regardless, there is a middle ground between having ‘everything handed to you’ and getting ‘nothing of value’.

If you went to work all month, to pay your bills and feed your family, and then on payday your boss turned around and said “Instead of money RNG gave you ticker-tape this month, LOL!” You’d feel pretty cheated.

Rewards need to be somewhat proportional to effort, for the effort to be worth it. If you put in a lot of time, effort and money, just to end up with some BS you can’t use, then you’re obviously going to be unhappy. Why is that ‘at all’ surprising?

I’m not saying people should be ungrateful, but I don’t see why they should be greatful either.

If you wasted your whole weekend, only to get burned by RNG, then go ahead and feel salty... you’ve earned it! :)

I don't complain about getting the wrong perks. The only thing that annoying me is the additional effect from some perks is very weak, which does not seems to fix with the word "Legendary"

One good example is the "Chill" Cannon Dmg Perk. I have tested the effect and it slows target spd for only about 10- 15% for 5 sec. :(

A months work vs a weekend grind on a game?
Not really comparing apples for apples :)
With a job you have a contract, an agreed salary, you know what you are getting paid in advance of doing the work and therefore have the choice if you think its worth it or not.

With the event, it is always a gamble.
You wasnt "guaranteed" the perk you wanted, it was always a gamble.
It isnt like you were guaranteed the cannon perk and at the end it turned into a repair perk (like the salary vs ticker tape scenario).

You have to decide at the front end if you want to grind for the chance at the perk you want.

I totally appreciate its a kick in the ass when RNG trolls you with the wrong item, but this is all part of the gamble.

This is one of the more powerful perks!
30% slow effect for 5 seconds.
Biggest bonus is from frozen damage boost for mortars and torpedos.
standard cannon gives a chance to freeze every few seconds.
You can either freeze with cannon and then torp for big damage.
Or launch a mortar and just as it is about to hit then follow up with the cannon (situational as walls may prevent the cannon but you get the idea) :D

I would just like to say that I’m not ‘personally’ unhappy with the perks I received. I wasn’t terribly excited about any of the perks to begin with, but all of them are useful to me (albeit to varying degrees).

But when you say “it’s all part of the gamble”, you’re kind of glossing over the fact that some people might not want to ‘gamble’, and actually it’s quite a lot of work completing events, just to lose to RNG.

Is it a gamble? ... Yes!

Should it be gamble? ... That’s still debatable.

Lol to make a mk7 fixer would take ungodly amount of time and money. You act like this game is easy to adjust weapons and ships.

Everything in the game is a gamble, unless you are buying specific items from the shop or IAPs.
    Guild Raffle - Gamble
    Combining items = Gamble
    Opening Crates = Gamble

I think if the gamble was taken away and Rovio pre-determined what we would get (even if we chose it) then you would get a ton of people claiming that now its proven the RNG can be rigged.
Also we would see even less diversity as everyone would be choosing the most meta / powerful perks.

Whether you were disappointed depends on why you played the event.

If you played the event purely for the perks, then if you don’t get the one you wanted then you will be disappointed with the event as a whole.

However, I play games for the enjoyment. It was a different game mode which gave a fresh feeling to the normal gameplay. I also dealt more damage than normal gameplay (so happy with the additional gold and sugar than I get on a normal weekend).

I never got the perks that I wanted, but I’ve come to view them as the ‘cherry on top’ (the additional potential bonus), so if I never had them I can’t miss them.

I think about it this way, would I have played the event even if there were no perks on offer? The answer is probably yes, due to the different gameplay experience, so I can’t feel bad about it.

So ‘not’ everything in the game is a gamble, and even it were, that doesn’t mean everything ‘should’ be.

RNG crates make economic sense for Rovio. You buy a crate > you don’t find what you’re looking for > you buy another crate.

The events don’t work that way. If you complete the event and don’t find what you want, there often isn’t time to ‘try your luck’ again. The event ends, and the perk is gone.

The question that I think we should be asking therefore is: does that make economic sense for Rovio? Are people more likely to play (and buy tickets) for an RNG prize, or for a prize that they actually want?

If you don't like the items you get maybe you should have tested them out. Standard mortars will go into the meta somehow. Just how carronades went into the meta just as the defender numbers went down.

Are you kidding me? There are events every week. If you can't get enough stars then you deserve what cr*appy perk you got. What I mean by that is better players will get better things and worse players will get the worse thing. It suits the game because most people don't need to use the special perks in lower infamies.

Lets stop with the life quotes, they are just derailing the thread.
The argument @ViscountSniffit was making was if the perks should be predetermined / selectable, or random as they are now.
I like random, it feels great when you hit the jackpot, and everything is luck based.
If everyone got the same perks every event then matches would be even less varied than they are now, and meta combinations would become even more powerful.

I think there are other options besides RNG or Choose.

For example, there could be selection of crates at the end with different prizes, and you get to choose which one you gamble on, with the most stuff you like or can use.

Ultimately, if you don’t like the four perks available, then there is little incentive to take part in the event. If people had a bit more choice then at least they would always have something to play for, even if it’s still RNG.

Yeah, I guess. That would be a situation everybody benefits except for Rovio when they get less money due to people not buying pearls. I am not saying that Rovio is greedy but that everyone has to benefit including the developers of the game.

    Bye.

You mean like more perks but spread between crates.
So at the end you get a red crate for weapon perks, yellow crate for yellow peks, and a green crate for repair perks.
So although its still random, you will at least get an item you can use.
