Why is it fair (or the devs think it is) to match mk4 vs 5 vs 6 in a same season?

If a mk5 and a mk6 have the same infamy it is perfectly fair to match them. (As infamy is a measure of gear score AND skill)

However, deliberately dropping infamy is NOT fair. But that is a infamy exploit issue, not a matchmaking issue. If you see people losing on purpose, then report them. :)

I think it's people being too lazy to report these players that leads to massive matchmaking problems. REPORT these tankers, guys!

I mean matching in season league, the higher Mk, the easier to get the top, and lesser Mk have no chance to win the best season reward.

Thanks for the clarification. I’m not sure it is worth dropping a league because:
    1. I believe that basic rewards in the higher leagues are better than the best rewards you can get in the lower one.
    2. You get better battle rewards from being in a higher league
    3. If you drop, you’re not guaranteed to be in the top 10, so it’s a risk to try it
I’m not saying that players aren’t deliberately dropping their infamy (I’ve heard too many stories of high level ships at ridiculously low infamy levels to think that), but I’m not sure that the reason is finish top of the lower league.

Anyway, I hope that you aren’t affected by these players too much. As has been stated, if you see any deliberate losing, just report them, and they’ll be punished. :)

Any mk6 thats not horrendously terrible at gaming can get 1 leg +5 epic pieces every 2 weeks in Nightmare.

For OT: If you see someone vastly overpower the league (in final infamy that is, not gear/mk), then report and explain that you suspect the player to infamy drop on purpose. I assume that they have a log and can easily spot infamy being manipulated (if they are willing to anyway).

I think the primary motivation for dropping infamy is questing. If I were to drop 1k infamy, not only would be able to use a much greater variety of weapons and ships, I’d also have many more options for fleeting.

They need to make it so that people who punch above thier weight get rewards and quest bonuses that reflect that.

What’s the point in me trying so hard to win against friggin mk7s, in my poor mk5. When I could be sucker punching mk4s and getting way more quest progress?

If I could press a button to set my infamy back to 300, then I probably would. I could try out some of my mk3 ships, carry games with my t1 epics, get my ‘god like’ achievement, I could fleet with almost anyone, and we’d always win. Frankly, it’d be awesome.

So you can’t really blame people for wanting to do it. Blame the devs for making it so appealing, and not incentivising people to play thier best.

One thing a game like this needs is a constant influx of new players. Being limited to mk2 but facing mk3-5s regularly around 600 infamy is both discouraging and a tremendous speed bump to progressing. I know grinding will get me there eventually, but if a large proportion of new players are turned off it will just lead to future matchmaking difficulties. I have great games around 300-400 infamy where I face equal peers, but quickly advance until I see mk6s and the game is again not fun. Tanking seems like an inherent part of the game to maintain any sort of fun factor in this game. It's unhealthy for the community and unfortunate for the game. It's easily the biggest problem with this game and if not corrected will probably limit it's growth if not kill it altogether. Without revenue from new players the devs will force proffit from f2p players, signaling death of the game itself. My $0.02

I would welcome a rebalance of where the ressources come from. Make guildquests much less protitable & move the lost income over to seasonal rewards. #makeInfamyMatterAgain!

Nightmare desperately needs some reward difference beyond top3 - Perhaps its time to split Nightmare into smaller divisions?

they might be noobs but their gear is OP for that level (my own experience, got one-shoted by these players few times so I know there is something wrong), they can't lead their shots but it really hurts when they hit you

I don't see a problem matching mk5 and mk6 ships. They are basically the same in everything but hp. Then again sometimes I do see mk5 ships with more hp than mk6 ships. And it is the mk4's fault if they go to infamy where mk5 and mk6 are common.
