I got lucky and got up to ~3880. I eventually leveled back out around 3400 about where I felt I should be. Later, I cancelled VIP and in one day was down to 2700. I was not losing intentionally.

When you are punished for being 800 below your highest EVER, you get hit twice. You are paired with people with infamy range it thinks you should be against. This is fine. But then it also says you cannot win any stars and can only win approximately 30% the normal awards. If I am pitted against people it thinks I should be against then I should have roughly a 50% win rate and will not be able to recover to the acceptable level. If I cannot get the resources to upgrade, I will be stuck permanently against this group.

Can we change it so the punishment is either 30% resources OR pitted against peer infamy, but not both? Determined peer infamy seems like the more logical choice since someone losing intentionally would want to be against lower infamy players. This way someone who did not lose intentionally will not be punished out of playing the game and someone losing intentionally will not be rewarded by being able to play against lower infamy ships.

I repeat, this is VERY frustrating since I did not lose intentionally, did not change up my ship or play worse than usual. I was consistently the top or near top of my team and the game decided I should be paired with suiciders for a day, I guess in retribution for cancelling VIP. I still watch ads so I assume I am still providing revenue for the company.

Cancelling VIP has nothing to do with the losing down swing, unfortunately that's how this game goes.
You get great win streaks, followed with hardcore losing streaks or what I like to call "Taking it dry" it sucks. especially at the start of the season if you are closer to 4k because that's when you get all the guys who play around 5k mixed in regularly

I don't even think VIP benefits matchmaking in anyway. I don't seem to know why people theory it does.

I don't believe you. However, not the point of my post.

I don't believe you either. However, not the point of my post. Your "taking it dry" streaks add to the weight of my point about the punishment being too harsh.

Did someone say UFO's? Conspiracy theory? Any of the above? Something does need to be done about not punishing everyone that drops 800. It is so common now to have these large swings in infamy.
