This type of guild should be banned for doing cheap tricks. Most of em are lvl35+ and they stay below 1k infamy, they drop infamy intentionally and ruin game for others and then with that low infamy they do guild quests to progress faster. I've reported them several times but still no action is taken since last 2 months. I face players of this guild almost everyday dropping infamy and ruining matches for everyone. Please either ban such guilds or do something in new update so that these things don't happen. Thankyou!

agree , its very sad, These "tankers" discourage new players, devs simply miss out on new players with money. Newbies leave the game because the big monsters rape him.
But someday "the dairy cows" at top 50 will end.:)

They can't "do something about the guild". The guild is not the problem. What they need to do is understand why that guild finds it so profitable to tank and then fix the rewards and incentives to... you know... support the game vision which is "Play as hard as you can".

I had a post regarding a related issue, the penalties for rewards when you drop too much infamy. Read it here.

I asked why my thread was closed and this is the response I got : "I closed the thread as there was no more added constructive value to come from it - very grateful for the discussion that did took place though :)
The other reason was that it encouraged talk about infamy tanking itself to be something people either do deliberately and feel it is OK or they feel it's somehow a game design fault - I simply did not want any discussion to go further into that - as I have a zero tolerance for cheating in the game."

In the case the OP posted, it doesn't look like they suffer any penalty because they have maintained that low infamy probably a long time. Looking at this example posted by the OP, the infamy tanking penalty is not even working on the intended player base and the has not deterred infamy tanking. It just penalizes people for being affected by infamy swings.

SnappleBC, your point is spot on, but based on the response on why my thread was closed, they do not feel that it's the game design's fault. They feel it's the "Bad players". The current infamy/matchmaking system, as it is, is incredibly flawed. Maybe matchmaking should be based on a combination of tier of ship primarily and maybe somewhat the amount upgraded gear in your inventory. Ships have no business fighting other ships that are 2 tiers or more above or below them.

The devs don't really acknowledge that their is a problem or are not telling us that they acknowledge it. I think when developers respond with the attitude "When we have something or feel something needs to be fixed or are fixing we'll let you know" closes off developers from their player base and gives the appearance they don't care. I understand that they don't want to "commit" to anything and are trying to manage expectations, but it would be nice to know that "they are working on it" or "we've decided it's not an issue and it is working as intended".

Im so sick of report these type of players. For 5 battles im playing, in 2 there is a stupid low infamy mk6 rushing into an enemy and getting killed in 5 seconds.

I don't get how these guys can get full rewards despite being at such low infamy. I'm certain their battle rewards and league rewards suck because they are still in Challenger league. But they should be getting the regular gold and sugar rewards cut by half in addition to zero stars from battles that infamy tankers usually receive as punishment.

Yet another way this game rewards infamy tankers. Remove the high rewards gained from lower infamy and the issue disappears. Is there really a good reason to allow 500 infamy players to get the same battle rewards as 4000 infamy players? Should lower league rewards ever be greater than higher league rewards, even 1st place? reward system as built is promoting this behavior, and it is enabled by quick and easy infamy manipulation... per game infamy changes are my #1 gripe in this game.

I'm not as convinced as you that the Dev's think everything is wonderful. Clearly it is not and they are probably not all drooling idiots :) They did, after all, manage to make this pretty cool cute little shooter game.

I think they are wedded to their matchmaking meta (they had what sounded like an industry standard name for it and the underlying theory is legit enough). That doesn't mean they are wedded to how guild quests work or how rewards for battles are doled out. I suspect they would agree that "fighting as hard as you can" should yield optimal rewards. Surely they know that is currently not true. They've relied on a "skill-heavy" matchmaking system which has a lot of merit. The problem is that infamy doesn't measure skill directly. It measures where on the ladder a player is able and willing to get to. If the reward structure is screwed up then the "and willing" part comes into play. That's what I think we are seeing now.

For me personally, my "infamy management" days are done. The speeder is an awful lot more resilient to being totally outgunned than the shooter was so it's a lot more fun to play at my max. I only dabbled with guild quests this time and while I miss the better battle rewards I don't miss them enough to stop playing competitively. So far, at least, I'm able to make up the losses in quantity.
