What are point damage weapons?

BHURTabd BROCK Level 30 says "Damage boost for point damage weapons. 5% more damage."

What are those weapons? Are cannons point damage? Are carronades? What is a point damage weapon? What isn't a point damage weapon? Thanks.

 

Except flare gun, as the official wiki says

• Flare Gun is the only weapon in the game to not be classified as either a point damage weapon or an area damage weapon.

 

Basically (except flare gun apparently though I don't really get that) weapons can be separated into two classes:

Point effect: can only do damage to one target
Area Effect / Splash: can do damage to multiple targets

So:
Weapons like Mortars and Torps are Area Effect
Weapons like Railgun, blast, standard, and sniper canons are Point Effect

 

So is it explosive cannon a point damage weapon?

But carronade is point damage and can hit multiple targets, so we need to be more specific and say area weapons are weapons that can hit multiple targets with 1 projectile.

 

But becareful with Buzzkill skill when it said point damage increase, it only increase railgun damage only but not cannon.

 

Incorrect. All point damage increase talents increase all point damage weapons. You just might not notice the change depending on your weapon level as 2% is harder to notice.

 

My EC did above 1k after the train unlocked and after that it stayed the same, you have any prove about it? I'm about to retrain my Buzzkill if it brought nothing good to what i used.
