I thought I might be nice to hear why people play the boats that they do, and what lead them to it. :)

For me it was ‘sort of’ necessity. I foolishly ignored training up any speed talents through the early mks, and I scrapped any turbos that I collected.

On the mk2 shooter, speed isn’t a concern (it’s all about shields), so I figured turbo was just pointless, like gear lube. I focused all my training into my Blast Cannons.

When I hit mk3, I quickly realised my mistake. My ship basically didn’t move. I was so slow, mortars could bullseye me every time. I was barely surviving 10 seconds once the unfriends were sighted.

Realising that my shooter was basically unplayable, and that I had a lot of speed and turbo training to catch up on before I could use it again, I decided to switch over to my mk2 Speeder (which only had 1 gun back then).

TBH it was pretty terrible, very few hp, and hard to do much damage. But it was just so fun wizzing around, and having people miss you.

I ended up gaining 300 infamy, and won my first season, just by speeding out into the middle of the map, and having everyone waste shots on me.

After that I was hooked. Never used my shooter since.

I started with shooter. Then Defender. I was struggling, but then i changed to speeder. Switched from 800 to 2500 infamy. I recently started to battle with enforcer now that i have a t3 epic tesla shield.

    Enforcer is pure love.

Started as a Fixer. Loved the Healing Pulse so I used it so much and so often. My first green slot was a green Healing Pulse and once I got my second, it was the Healing Box. I knew I was never ever going to use duct tape, but when the 50% self heal nerf came out, I still knew I wasn’t going to use it.

I used an Epic Tesla Bolt up until I saw how amazing Nitro was. Ever since I switched to Nitro, I loved my Fixer even more.

Maybe if I get an Epic Duct Tape, I’ll use it. Box is becoming weak with all this 1,000+ damage from Sniper Crits.

Started with shooter because all the other boats except fixer are worthless at lower levels. Got my shooter up to M4 (A cute epic turbo with some nice perks has kept my shooter moving along at 1.25). But I can see the writing on the wall and I'm already working up my speeder. The shooter is just plain unresponsive to skill because it is not mobile enough for skill to evidence. Honestly I see very little skill to spraying torps and mortars about. You get lucky or you don't. So I expect to swap to speeder and not go back unless I get some heavy turbo love from RNGesus.

Started as shooter and got up to 1000+ infamy. I love using cannons and shooter was the best boat to use multiple cannons at the same time. Eventually when I caught up with mortar spammers, using cannons became a suicide. Every time I got out from cover mortars rained down and I was out of the game with a couple of shots fired at some unfriend. It got annoying to such a level that I had to use a big Berta and grenade launcher with a sniper cannon on a mk3. I hate using mortars and I'm not good with torps.
Finally I decided to try out speeder. It was fast, fun and easy to use. At least early on. And since then I never looked back. Sometimes i take out my mk3 shooter for a spin in custom battles (thanks to devs for the awesome feature) with my friends with mk5 shooters loaded with t4 rares and epics. I will try it some day I guess, when I have the gear for it. :p

Played a few games as enforcer as I liked the description of what the enforcer was for, then realised it was rubbish at low levels. Switched to shooter and rode that up to level 4 using a nice double sniper setup, with regular cannon and ballpark mortar.

Mk 5 enforcer was available at lower levels than other ships at the time and so I swapped to it (thinking that I’d switch back to shooter when I reached the extra couple of captain levels. Running a ob and Tesla bolt, I loved the extra speed it gave (compared to shooter) but soon lost infamy as I struggled to learn how to use it. Persevered and fell in love with that little underpowered (at the time) boat and infamy began to rise.

Soon after scrapped the snipers and cannon, and got double blast cannon and flare. Infamy fell again, but learned patience about when to engage the enemy and with the help of a shiny new swift torp (when RNG decided that I should run one] in place of of the one of the blast cannons, my infamy rose once more.

If the current levels that ships become available existed back the , there’s every chance that I wouldn’t have switched to enforcer and definitely wouldn’t have enjoyed the game as much.

I started with shooter but now i'm playing the yellow boats (speeder and enforcer) I liked shooter because I had a lot of weapons but after a while I got tired of being killed by speeders (i was at the 0-500 range so my aim wasn't that great...) I followed the principle: "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" so I decided to try speeder I was bad at first of course.. low level gear, it was too fast I couldn't control it (Ran into walls, torps, etc) This was before we had custom battles... after a while I was able to level up my gear and was able to push to the 1000 infamy range I stayed here a little while but eventually I got mk5 speeder and was able to push to 2200(almost Ace) but I started to drop a lot (I wasn't tanking I was honestly trying to win I was using Blast+mines) but I guess I just had good luck with matchmaking before... I continued playing my speeder but I started saving up for mk5 enforcer... the extra weapon seemed very useful to me and tesla shield was a great option for me... currently i'm still learning enforcer but I like the strategy behind it, when and how to use my tesla shield being able to lead pushes and protecting my fixer from speeders is a lot of fun to me... however I still use my speeder for fun and quests

Have always gravitated to the support classes in most games (eg: Engineer in TF2) and Enforcer at low-level didn't feel good, so I went with Fixer.

I've always preferred what I call the "trickster" class.... abilities which change the nature of the combat rather than straight up damage/defense -- mez/stun/charm/slow/etc.. So from the beginning I knew at some point I'd be trying out boats with yellow slots. Napalm is the only crowd control item I know of that's not yellow.

Well, I technically didn't start on my current account, so I'm going to talk about my old account.
I started with enforcer, never played shooter(those battles when you only have a shooter don't count), and I alternated between the enfo and speeder. I eventually switched to the defender, after I gave up on yellow ships, until I scrapped all my items (when I figured out how to make a new account). Then I made my current account, and went speeder straight away.

For ftp legendaries might not always be the best option... yes they are very strong but upgrading them to t2 is a long time dream... not to mention you can't even use 4 perks until t3... I'm not sure the level comparison between epic and legendaries but I think epics are the best way to go for FTP...

    I chose a speeder.

The reason was pretty complex. I hate to do things the easy way in any game. There I was, Master 3 with a mk4 shooter, with dual snipes and a BT, when I thought, "Is this really a tough ship to play?"
That day, I got THREE rare blasties. Three. I took that as a sign lol.

Speeder is a cursed katana. You won't be able to let go once you wield it, and it'll tear down your enemies like nothing else. But you KNOW it's gonna be the death of you. That's the appeal to me. A ship that totally punishes you, but makes you feel like a badass at the same time.

Oh, and you can jump the waves and do dorifuto. Yay!

I started as a fixer because i thought I'd make a lot of friends since everyone wanted a fixer on their team, sadly I didn't. Instead I ended up rarely ever fleeting because I was blamed for losses even though teammates clearly didn't play together. I wanted an independent ship and chose enforcer because it was in need of a buff and thought "hey, if I choose an underpowered ship, maybe It would get buffed till it was op" boy was I wrong, but since I lacked the resources to try out the other ships I stuck with the 2 sadly waiting until something is changed xd

Most people started with shooter, so did I. Was a shooter up to mk3 (around 1000 infamy) and I felt that I wasn’t doing much with my rare sniper, rare std cannon and uncommon big berta so I decided to switch to mk3 enforcer since I have some yellow items. I went all the way up to nightmare with my mk5 enforcer and love using it. Last month I received my first legendary exp cannon and I switched to using speeder and it’s fun to use :D
