Big Shield users

I'm just now starting to use a Big Shield and not sure which perks are better the +25hp or +5%. I have an epic BS at Lvl 8 atm.

 

+% beats +hitpoints 99% of the time

Those are the only ones available for the Shields (Big Shield and Standard Shield)


Here's my Rare Shield with 3 Lucky Epic Perks that add 150hp each.

 

@D3X Crew member perks, not equipment perks. Specifically, Brock.

 

% is always better than solid. If I have 200 dollars, would I rather get 20$? Or 20% more? 20% as that would translate to 40$ more

 

Well if you read his or her post you would have seen he/she was talking about crew perks.

 

Ahh my bad. I usually call them Captain levels or Captain Skills rather than Perks.

 

I'm not too sure if the game works this way though. I'm fairly confident that both are applied to to base hp (LVL 1) so point increase does buffs your other % skills. It's always more than +25. I have level 17 Brock with 508 rare big shield base hp. Level 4, 7 and 17 are swapped for solid increase. Someone should confirm the numbers.

I have to finish this 2 day long training before I start playing with shield skills to confirm but I'm pretty confident that's how it works.

 

I have many rare big shield, enough to upgrade it up to t5 and still some extra left but i haven't scrap them until now. Is equipping two big shield is good on any ship? Does anyone use two big shield at once?

 

Other than defender, no.
Enfo and fixer dont even have the slot points for dual bs. Shooter and speeder can, but all ships need a turbo, hence only a single big shield can be used, also a bandage/small shield @mk6 would be an ideal option.
However for defender, dual big shield is ideal from mk5-7. Preferred setups :
Mk5 : two bs, one turbo.
Mk6 : two bs, one turbo + one whatever-you-like /get-by-rng blue 1 slotter.

It depends on your shield stats. For low level shields +25hp is better. After about t3 Rare (and I guess t2 Epic), 5% starts to overtake it.

 

25 plus might be good for mk1-3, but further tan that, big shields should always activate 5% plus
