I think an awesome blue item would be a small radius stun that a defender or shooter could employ when speeders crowd them. Currently there is no defense when a speeder is in your face. I think a short stun effect in a small radius around your ship would allow a defender (or shooter or fixer, perhaps) to create some distance and give a fighting chance. Maybe it could be a perk to an existing defense item (shield?) or a training talent that could be unlocked and deployed as a shield power perhaps.

I just noticed your idea & great minds think alike as i had the same idea & it was for a while brewing in my mind after constant speeders getting close up & personal, taunting & constant stun then fire on you, as there's no way out. I started a thread also, going something like this :
We need another red slot weapon, more like an E.M.P that renders ships dead in the water for a few seconds, like speeders getting too close & doing the tesla on us slow shooters. Reason why, is that i tried both the Speeder & Enforcer & found that the Shooter is very slow compared, but lacks a bit of defence in close up battle & can't get away fast enough. It might be different if i had an epic bandage but nothing has come up yet, only crappy rudders & lube.

EMP is exactly what I was thinking- just couldn't put a name to it. "EMP" is a perfect name and description! I, on the other hand, would prefer it be a blue item as it's defensive in nature (and my defender only has 3 weapons lol).

Blue slot already has a healing item "Bandage", we need a defensive item in a red slot, but a blue slot could work.

While I can see why lots of people would want this, speeders don’t just get up close to be annoying, it’s kind of what we do to survive.

I’m not going to say stun area is a bad idea, in an of itself, but it would constitute (probably) the single biggest nerf to speeders that the game has ever seen.

    Best ship for a season*.

Speeders are constantly evolving, and, though I like this idea(sort of, I still think it's OP since shooters are glass cannons not meant for the close fighting this weapons deals with according to me), I'd like all shooters to consider the fact that speeders can adapt really well to nerfs, due to the fact that we are constantly being nerfed.

This might just lead to counterproductive results for those who support this idea so that they can just beat down speeders. Wanna know why?

How much of a stun will this have? It would take 6 seconds for a speeder to turn his turret 180° IF he's turning his ship to turn the turret. This means that if a speeder 180°s you with OB, he's still gonna have superb acceleration while your average shooter will be "stunned" virtually, since he wont be able to shoot at the speeder. Which is precisely the point of getting that close to an enemy shooter.

I guess the question is, how is it gonna help?

Lol i donno why people afraid speeders so much. I am in ace league and i have hardly faced an issue with a speeder. what i believe is You just gotta out think the speeder. Maybe i have an awsm blast and torp on my shooter so they never get a chance to up close me and even if they do i have my napalm to put the whole field on fire. The only time speeder has harmed me is when i am alone 1 vs 1 and even then i have a trick up my sleeve

Youre a tough target. However, if you're the sharp shooter that I know, you "chase butterflies(kiting speeders)". Remember this. If you're with a team, taking down the unfriends fixer, and a speeder appears from behind you, it's a diversion. Take out the fixer first, then call the hit on the speeder. You ended up chasing me on Dropdead Gorge, and though you did end up killing me, your team lost because they couldn't overcome our fixers healing factor.

Oh, and btw, I used a smurf back then. The name was 5.56x45 NATO.

There can be only 1 sharp shooter with "a" as "@" so u can easily check that but the description u gave i think its probably me . Anyways my point is even i use to give commands and follow the rule of killing enemy fixer first especially if we dont have one but i dont think it ever helps. Also if we get a speeder jumping on our land just when the game starts we should kill him and by we i mean the whole team should focus on him since its an easy target and if we manage to kill him the game quickly becomes 5 vs 4 and we get an advantage.after that all we gotta do is attack all at once and the unfriends even with a fixer wont be able to recover.
Ps: i have seen u many times on chat but now i will be looking for u in the game too

I'll give you a good tip on how to recognize an offensive play and tell it from just a diversion.

In an offensive play, the speeder will have someone backing him(or behind him, we both know these potato teammates), and he will most probably start with a flare or another such "combo starter tool" like frost. He will have a lot of health, or a fixer to whom he's just called for help. These guys are overconfident, and more likely to make mistakes(I've been one countless times).

However, when your team is making a push in a direction which may lead to his team being compromised(maybe, say in the Crude Awakenings area, your team is heading into the aircraft chassis with torps ready, and he saw it, AND his team is about to head in), he will try to distract you. He'll fire his dps surehit weapon and hope that at least one of his teammates turns around to assist him, so that he can bait one of your teammates into leaving formation near the capture area or something.

When you put the hit on me, my fixer was in the capture area and one of my mortar shooters was taking position, with a brawler shooter on the other side of the map. This sort of dispersed team is useless. I also saw your team moving into position near the barrel wall(you know, that chain of barrels near the cap area). So, I fired my flare at you, you saw me, and then I managed to get three guns off my fixer for 35 seconds or so while you chased me. Meaning that my fixer got the time to heal and get the team together.

THIS is what you must be able to recognize. Am I attacking? Or am I diverting?

Well thanks for the tip. You sure seems to put a lot of technique and strategy behind your gameplay which most people lack and honestly even i dont go in that deep. Also u seem to narrate our encounter as if u remember each and every detail, kudos to your sharp memory mate. Unfortunately i dont remember any bit of it, so if u could just share a replay that would help me a lot to understand ;-)

About that first part, yeah, some people do say that I think too much about strategy, but I think people just do it accidentally.

About the second part. I have a bad memory IRL, but I can narrate every battle if I just see the person that killed me or the person that assisted me or just someone whose name stood out. Like oppai popcorn(jeez), or bone daddy(jeeeeeeez) or even *censored*.

Anyway, the reason I remember you is because I had to see the replay afterwards, while I was looking for a video tutorial. The kiting one, if I'm not wrong. I wanted the battle code. So I went looking. I'm usually not last in any battle, but there it was. Dropdead gorge. One kill, 3k ish damage. One of my best assassinations, except for the fact that I don't encourage kamikaze tactics, and thus, it never made it into my phone memory xD. My blast shot went over a wave, hitting that fixer (I believe he had one of those generic names) with perfect lead. Work of art. I died a few seconds later xD.

I suggest that you remember names that stick out, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO SPEEDERS. There's a lot of real raptors out there, people for whom, under the right conditions, even a double fixer team is EZ. Remember the great assassins especially. These guys act like they are pure instinct, but it's much more than that.
    Here's a starter pack:

B' nice to me pls(dont ask, the name is just...*sigh*)

    Devils demon
    CobraINS(snipe+bt, perfect aim)
Slasher swag(a SNIPER with his flare+blast, too accurate)
Texas girl(fixer, box expert, bolt MLG pro)
Beast hunter(shooter, one of the best snipers out there, if he has a good commander to call out the targets)
    Thor(paladin, lege duct tape)

These guys really stand out for me in Ace 3-Ace 2. I'll focus fire on them when I'm against them.

Ps: even i enjoy double fixers since i have napalm to seprate them and create chaos.
