Do Quests eventually expire if you don't complete them?

    I constantly get quests to "Do XX damage with the long range mortar" or "Kill X ships with the long range mortar". I'm guessing I only get quests to use weapons I have and I accidentally had a LR mortar in my inventory I forgot to scrap. If I simply don't use a LR mortar to complete this quest, will it eventually expire and go away or am I screwed until I complete it?

    At the top right of the quest you'll find some little arrows, tap on them to reroll for a different one.

    I already did that and it changed between the two quests I listed in the OP. still with the stupid LR mortar. Now it won't let me change it again even though it's been a day or so.

    You should be able to change one every time to get a new quest. As long as you don't have a weapon equip on any ship, you will not receive a quest for it. So the reason you are getting the LRM quest is because it's on a ship, even if it's a ship you don't use. Place it in your inventory, and refresh the quest.

    One of your quests can be re-rolled every 8 hours. You'll only get quests for weapons equipped on a ship, so if you have an LR Mortar on another boat (even if it's not your actively selected one) you'll want to put it in your inventory before you roll.

    I did unequip the weapon but it hasn't let me reroll a quest since yesterday. Just checked it again now and it did have the reroll button. *sigh*

    You have 1 reroll every 8 hours (refreshes when you get a new Quest).

    Just in case you didn't get it,
    You can reroll one quest every 8 hours
