When to stop levelling rares?

i guess a question for the more experienced battle bayers...

I have a level 28 rare cannon, and have been fortunate enough to get enough spares to level it up more - all the way to rank 5 if necessary. But the question is.. should I? Id imagine its incredibly expensive from level 40 onwards and im not sure its worth it.. diminishing returns and all that.

So, maybe I stop at level 40 (im assuming its worth levelling to 40?) and use the parts on something else? Or keep going?

If it was any other rare item, I would say yes. But since its a cannon maybe just level it up till level 40. The damage of a rare cannon is just too low even with the low cooldown. It would be a waste if you spend almost all your resources when there are better weapons out there. If it was an epic or a legendary then maybe. But 300-400 damage wont do much when you reach MK4/5/6. Keep that as a good secondary item, then try to look for a rare/epic primary weapon that deals high damage and spend the bulk of your resources to level up that one.

No problem. Cannon is still a good weapon but try to think of it as a secondary item that you only level up when youre out of options for your primary.

 

Whats the meta currently look like for nightmare? Say for speeder and shooter..

 

Actually, due to its low reload time I think that Cannon should be your primary. Your higher damage weapons should be your secondary because most of them have high reload time.

 

Its being dominated by speeders atm. Their very hard to stop late game. To be competitive in nightmare you should be packing rare T4 equipment at the very least.. That should change very soon with the recent introduction of Legendaries. With more and more players going premium to get legendary equipment, pretty soon even rare T5 equips wont matter anymore and epics would be the minimum to stay competitive.

 

That depends on what your set up is... But in most cases you shouldnt even be firing the cannon unless all your weapons/items are on cooldown. Lets say my primary is a blast cannon that does 900+ damage with a 11 second cooldown. To get that damage with a cannon you'd have to fire 2-3 times and make sure you land all 3 hits. With a 5 second cooldown for the standard cannon, it would take 10-15 seconds to even make up that damage. Instead of firing the cannon 3 times, you couldve used your other items that wouldve made you more useful to the team like healing, stunning the enemy, etc etc.

 

I use Cannon on Shooter. However, I treat it as a primary because I can fire two shots while both my secondaries are reloading.

If why, because I want to know how relevant your response is to the top tier.

If what, because you may be in a higher league but farming out at lower ratings.

I often go into unabalanced matches and lose so.... you might laugh but Challenger. But I do know how each weapon works and what weapon is best for each class. You might be wondering how I'm Challenger and 308 infamy, but I'll tell you. Somehow, I encounter people with like Epic Railgun at my level. The new update kinda messed up the balance and I could've been Warrior or even past that.

Yes! That's i like to play in the less busy hours of the day, in the morning or at night, because that's when you get better match ups, or well at least that's what I THINK lol.
