Don't upgrade your ship.

Facts:
We all know that upgrading your ship gives a positive impact to the game, due to extra item slots/points + stat boosts, which results in a better performance overall.
Before the update, the only variable that the matchmaking algorithm accepted was infamy, so you will have a higher chance of reaching a higher infamy with higher performance (a higher tiered ship).
But now matchmaking takes infamy + ship tiers into account and we do not know what the weighting of the ship tier is.
So it is a now "possibility" that you could end up with a worse infamy if you upgrade your ship.

My personal thoughts:
I recommend Mk6s to not upgrade into Mk7s, since it only gives stat boosts, until you know how much it's going to impact your matchmaking.
I'm not too worried about the other tiers since performance is enhanced significantly after each upgrade, so the possibility that upgrading your ship is bad should be lower.

 

I guess the ship tier is only considered if your infamy is lower than 1000 or something. Because after the update the amount of mk6 in ace 2 has increased significantly every match I encounter atleast 3 mk6 before it wasn't that frequent. Now there are mk6 even with infamy as low as 800 in same team with 3300 infamy.

 

Ship tier is considered at all levels. The new update never said that you will encounter less higher tier ships. It only says ship tier is taken into account, so you might be matched with more lower infamy mk6s or be compensated with better teammates. Overall I don’t feel I’m matching up against less higher tier ships either, but I feel something definitely changed.

My main ship is mk5, but I have upgraded my Enforcer and Fixer to mk3. If I join games with them will I be matched against another mk3?

I saw that happen in one of my games with people using mk2s. Is that how it always works?

 

yes one other mk3 but the rest of ur team will be mk5 or mk4

 

Will we see the rise of mk5 fixers, who were already almost as good as mk6 fixers and possibly the best mk5 boat?

 

Yeah and worst mk5 is enforcer.

 

you know its awkward when u see a mk1 fixer with better item than the mk5s ( in terms of weapon)

Can you please tell me the benefit of that i really dont understand the purpose of tanking infamy! My goal was always to move forward the rewards are higher! Sometimes through match ups that didnt happen! Proir to changes i was level 1700 i have not won many battles since its pairing me with ships 2500 and above! Why does everyone think your cheating?! I dont see the benefit of that
