In the guilds update, big torp got a buff it didn’t need.
Wait, it didn’t get buffed? Then why are BIG TORPS FLYING AROUND AT SPEEDS MY SPEEDER CAN ONLY DREAM OF?!?!?
    Okay...
Perks. They are so easy to get, and they buff speed so much
So let’s play the nerfing game :D
    Nerf 1: scaling distance:
After the min distance, there is a yellow area where the big torp goes from 0 damage to whatever.
    Nerf 2: arming time:
Make the minimum attack distance increase as the speed increases
    Nerf 3: Alarm (My favorite):
When a big torp comes near, an annoying beeping noise triggers to let you know that there is one nearby. There will be a yellow arrow showing where the big torp is.

I thought about it too, can't see torp in Cannon view, always have to switch to mortar view..

Option 3 really isn't nerf, just makes torp more avoidable. As you mentioned rework.

Only frost was buffed. And a lot of frost torp speeders are just noobs and manage to miss even the point blank shot.
So no nerf for big torp, please

Sniper cannon is the most OP weapon, single slot, with perks can crit regulary doing upto 2000 damage from across the map with a locked target and fastest projectile speed.

Nerfing anything else would just make the game more unbalanced.

Yes, that is true. But, you do need to use sniper crit chance perks to keep the sustainable damage. While on other cannons you can use other perks such as damage to burning targets.

And if you want torp to be fast, you need projectile speed perks that you have to use instead of dmg perks. I use 2 speed and 1 frozen dmg perk on my rare t5 torp, speed is 4.2 and dmg is 1995 and frosted about 2900

When big torpedo hits defender near you there is a delay in splash damage so that you can get away.:p:p:p
    Nerf big torp? Really?
    Too near 0 damage
    too far they dodge
damn enforcers:mad::mad: dodge every torp shots:mad::mad:
I agree frost torps are a little hard to deal but you have to get close to the enemy ship for that to work.
Big torp is a high risk high reward weapon. It always has been. And any nerf to them will ruin it. Frost torp damage should be decreased that I can agree on.:):)

A short delay between impact and splash is a good idea, and I think most people could live with that. Perhaps where you’re able to see the area damage template (like with mortars).

So for example: a ship gets hit by a torp — that ship takes the full damage, then a moment or two later, the ship explodes, damaging other ships nearby.

That would mean people still get the full damage from a direct hit, using ‘skill’, and it would still have a dangerous blast area, but ships that aren’t directly hit would at least have a moment to respond, or try to get clear.

The reason we need this nerf is that big torps can a) be faster than “swift” torps and b) cause 3x the damage.

Big can’t be faster than swift.

    Apparently that’s possible.
Or swift torps can cause 700 damage at my infamy level (800-1000

Yes they can look at the swift torp level you will understand or maybe you are not aware enough to dodge a big torp even with lowest profile than other ships I always manage to dodge big torps with apparent ease. The area of damage of torps is bit too much but if you have problem with anything else I will have to say you need to play a bit better.

    BT base speed = 3
    Swift base speed = 4,5
With all talents and an epic t4 with 4 perks (9%) you get 56% speed increase and that gives you 4,68 total speed.
And since the sinklair talents also affect to swift torp, it gets to 5,9 speed with 30% talents. So you most likely get hit by lege swifts that do ~800 dmg without buffs.

My infamy is 800 to 1000. You don’t get t4 epics or legendaries there

And the death messages show rares and epics, I have only seen 2 legendary items and they were a carronade and a B.B.
And getting back to the topic, an alarm would be useful for both parties because nothing is distracting like an annoying beeping noise, and that same beeping noise will alert the player that there is a big torp coming for them. To be fair, a damage nerf would be unfair because damage is what the big torp SHOULD only have, not speed.
