Can anyone explain me defence points?

Defence points or whatever it is?
and also how does it work?

 

I have an standard cannon that is supposed to deal 400 damage. When I shoot at a MK5 speeder with 10 defense points, I deal 390 damage. When I shoot at a MK6 Defender with defense perks that has 80 defense points, I deal 320 damage.

This is how damage is calculated regarding "Defense" as a stat.

PS: Carronade hits are calculated this way 7x (100-60). If you have a carronade that deals 100 damage per projectile, it will only deal 40 damage per projectile to a Defender with 60 Defense points, so instead of 700-60 you deal 320. That's why it is a fucked up idea to attack a defender with a carronade (EDIT: unless it's T4 Rare or higher).

Basically, it reduces the damage done by the weapon fired at you with that specific number. (defence points)

This is true for only point damage weapons not splash so mortars torpedoes and explosive cannon don't count.

Wait what,doesnt defense reduce everything damage but burning weapons Includjng splashes? I'm confused

 

Defence only reduces the damage of weapons under point damage category.
The weapons who have area damage aren't affected by defence points. See how torpedo does damage to a defender without any reduction and see how blast cannon does.
