Evolved my rare bandage. The second bandage I had an epic 7.5 boost on. Didn't realize/know I'd lose my item the moment I clicked evolve. Bug or tough luck?

This used to happen a long tine ago, but was fixed. You should leave your player tag in your post so maybe a dev will take a look

I had the same issue...I had two extra bandages (one with a perk and one without)..when i clicked the evolve button, it choose the item with the perk attached every time. **Happened twice** I'm a glutton for punishment. It is hard enough with limited inventory. We really shouldn't have to remove the perk to protect it...those items should just slide into the next available perk slot.

Or be able to choose which item is going to be used during the evolve
...I'm considering keeping the uncommon b.torpedo's I come across. Would be livid if my highest was used to evolve

I'm not sure I understand the issue. Did you have another rare bandage without perks on that you wanted to use to evolve? If so, this is definitely a problem...it shouldn't be auto-selecting if it's going to eat one with perks on. If not, though, what did you expect to happen? In case you're not clear: you must eat an item of the same type and rarity to evolve. I just want to make sure that's completely clear, because your comment about keeping uncommon items makes me uncertain.

Miika explained that evolve searches for duplicate items in a specific order, first through your inventory, and then through your boats. So if you want to protect secondary items with perks, keep them on your boats.

Still, it seems foul that it would pull one leveled up and holding perks over a level 1 with no perks under any circumstances, especially without confirmation. There's no additional benefit to evolving using a leveled up item; nobody in their right mind would do so intentionally.

Sorry for not claryfing. I only had 2. The one I was using to be eaten had a perk stored on it since I was out of space. I assumed it would be dropped to my inventory or at least put on my evolved item since it gained a slot.

To clarify: I had a T2 rare bandage...on my ship. In addition I had two unleveled rare bandages. I put a perk on one of the unleveled bandages in my inventory. When I unlocked T3 I selected the evolve button on my bandage equipped on the ship. Once I clicked evolve (my hands are off the process) It selected one rare bandage from my inventory (of which i had two options) it randomly selected the rare bandage in my inventory that had the perk equipped.
**It could have selected the bandage without a perk equipped but it did NOT.
**I also fused a different item similar scenario a second time.
It's not isolated - and obviously it's not random...it picks the most leveled or perked option each time.

***Moral of story - don't fuse weapons with perks attached...unequip your perk first then proceed with fuse.
I still think support should give back perks lost..and code should be written to choose when there are multiple options present.
But to be honest it only really happened because (i was dumb enough to say let's see if it happens twice because that was odd) the game pinches you with a tiny inventory...so if you don't store them you'd have to sell them for more important items down the road.
