    1. Mortimer-8 (+30% dmg for direct hits) .......... does this affect Grenades?

    2. What affects acceleration rate (i.e. how quickly you start/stop)? ........... is it Ship Agility (i.e. Rudder)?

    3. What affects how fast you go in reverse? ............ is it related to your overall speed?

    4. Why does my turret seem to turn 5x faster if I take my thumb off the left-joystick?

    5. Related to #4... Does Gear Lube affect turret turn rate while moving, or while not moving, or both? (Honestly, what ships/weapons really use/need Gear Lube?)

    6. Missiles .................... are they ideally used in mid-range? Because long-range never seems to hit...

    7. Missiles ............... seem weak. Do they get substantially better once you level it up plus get the 4th projectile?

    No
    I think there is a set acceleration, (i.e. 0% to 100% in X sec decreased/decreased by waves)
Your theory is probably correct. (I.e. 50% full speed for speeder and 100% for enfo) But I don't know.
Because its at 100% speed? IDK, but that's what I think.
Both. And I once use GL on a fixer, because I relied on Repair box.
They spread more at range. (range perks seem to help keep them clustered) And yes, best use as close a possible outside of min range.
They get a fourth and fifth projectile, and dealing several hundred dmg each... Just watch @Waveblower!!!

    1. No, mortars only

    2. You have a base acceleration until you reach your maximum speed. Turbo will affect your top speed (I don't know if it also affects acceleration rate). Nitro and Overboost will give you a temporary boost to acceleration and top speed. If you're at a dead stop and start moving when you're going up a wave, you'll accelerate slower. Vice versa, if you're heading down a wave, you'll accelerate a little faster. Ship agility determines how fast you can turn.

    3. Same as 2 above.

    4. I've never made the observation that the turret moves faster if my finger was off the left joystick. What may be occurring is that you are moving your ship in the opposite direction from an opponent that the turret is turning towards, causing it to take a longer amount of time to rotate on to the enemy.

    5. Gear lube affects Turret Agility. So yes, it does affect the turn rate of your turret regardless of whether you are moving or not. Any ship will benefit from Gear Lube, but it becomes a trade off since you're using a slot that could otherwise have something else in there like a Shield or a Turbo

    6. Missiles have a base range of 30. I see a lot of players use them proficiently from long range.

    7. Pretty much every weapon at its base level will seem weak compared to leveled up, higher tier versions. Each weapon you find trade offs in attributes among range, damage, cooldown, and speed. Example, a cannon has a fast cooldown and projectile speed but limited range and damage. Opposite of that, a big torpedo has a longer cooldown and slower projectile speed but high damage and unlimited range.

Regarding Q4, it depends on which way your ship is turning. I use shooter so if I am trying to hit a speeder I know I need to turn my ship and turret in the SAME direction to get the fastest turret speed. It sounds like you are trying to compare the speed of the turret alone to the speed of the turret turning in the opposite direction of your ship. In that case, turret speed is always faster as the two objects are working against each other.

    ie:
(Mk 5) Shooter agility 22.5 deg
    Shooter Turret agility 25.9.
    Same direction turret agility 22.5 + 25.9 = 48.4 deg
    Opposite direction turret agility 25.9 - 22.5 = 3.4 deg

And this base speed is different for different ships. Enforcer has the fastest acceleration.

Re acceleration: I got my speeder up to max speed with twin turbos, but I felt my acceleration has improved since switching in a rudder, and my ship now feels faster, even though I’vs lost about 20 points of speed. Is it just my imagination that acceleration has improved?

Re the turret speed: it might be that if you are moving forward while turning your turret backwards, then the turret has further to turn because the target is progressing from your 3 o’clock towards your 6 o’clock, because you are moving past it.
