Rework mortars

    The usage of mortars has always been somewhat of a question in this game.
    overpowered at lower infamy & a little underwhelming at higher infamy( around 4k+).
    Mortars spamming at lower infamy and a little too much landing time of projectile at higher infamy
    So where did it all went wrong right at the start.
    The mortars are significantly buffed in the department of damage right from the start.

    Lets take a example of standard mortar by the time it is tier 3
    It's been buffed by 50% in dmg
    30% increase in centre dmg
    20% faster projectile &
    20% dmg buff for frozen targets.
    And insane range
    Or big Berta
    By the time Mortimer reaches tier3 it is buffed by 30% dmg increase + some more
    30% centre dmg increase
    + 20% frozen dmg buff etc
    This makes newer player too go for mortars
    Because at lower infamy the ships have low speeds so u r guaranteed a perfect hit and u win easily and this leads to mortar spamming but as these players move up the ships speed increases but the projectile speed remains same so these players move back down in infamy and this cycle repeats over and over that's why we see so many mk5 Noobs at lower infamy( mind u not all are infamy tankers).
    My suggestions are
    1.Move the increase in mortar damage to higher Mortimer's training lvls.
    for example - big Berta increase in direct dmg should be after lvl 16 like railgun.
    Move significant dmg buff at later stages like lvl 14
    2. At the later stages of Mortimer trading like lvl 25+. Add increase in projectile landing speed talents .
    These changes will help new player to learn how to use pt dmg weapons and Torps and learn how to lead shots( let's face it 3 Outta 5 ships are made for direct dmg) instead of spamming and make mortars viable at higher infamy too

    Actually they need nothing. How are you supposed to escape from shots if projectile speed is made faster? May be then increase speed of all boats by say 20%.

    You can't escape sniper either and in a mk4 speeder at 2000 infamy I'm practically one shotted by them

    And then you won't be escaping mortars either. How's that going to solve the problem?

    I'm at 2000 infamy and never got one shot my sniper ever. Mortars already have advantage of being lobbed over walls and insane range that in itself is devastating. How do you think shooters with all mortars get to 3000 with mk5 if mortars are weak?

    Sniper needs a clear shot like no waves obstructing it. Does mortars have that disadvantage. The answer is no.

    If you sit on 400 hp and expect not to get one shot by any weapon I can't say anymore. But if you are 1000+ hp then no weapon in 1500-2000 infamy range can one shot you expect berta or big torp or mine. Torp has slow speed so it can be dodged and so is about berta. If you see a red circle get out of it. If you see a torp soaring get the hell out. How it will help anyone in escaping when enemies always have 8-10 mortars always in some cases more.

    @Crashedup well, I don't even know where to start. I'm just at a Total loss for words by your idea.

    Mortars aren't overpowered. People just like to use then at early stages because people don't know how to dodge yet. On top of that they aren't good at leading shots yet. So given their skill level mortars are the only weapon they cab ever hit with. This isn't a problem in the power of mortars. It's just the average skill level around that infamy range. No buff or nerf will fix this

    (And Yes, as I stated in another topic, I also like to troll, but my explanation about mortars is serious btw)

    M not saying increase Thier projectile speed by 50% or so just a casual 10- 15 % would be good considering the speed ship gains .
    And what about my other pt no cmnts on that? About mortar spamming?

    Leading shots will solve that issue no need to increase projectile speed. You see it hard to hit speeders with sniper too so why it should be easy with mortar?

    I have 40% boost from turbo u know what my speed is 1.24 m a new mk3 and u have slightest idea what mortar spamming looks like ?

    Yeah about spamming I hate every spamming be it a mortar torpedo or mines. That's why didn't comment on that.

    I see it problem is mid game so if I move that increase in projectile speed to lvl25+ u will have problem then too?

    My speed is 1,17, and I have got zero trouble dodging mortars. I just love it when enemies target me with their mortars. I can Dodge it, and while they are targetting me the rest of my team is save.

    I and several others already explained in several other topics how to deal with mortar spammers. It all comes down to experience. I have around 7k battles. You probably have around 1000. So all I can say is, just keep practicing, it comes naturally with experience;)

    Maybe u didn't read my pt no amount of skill will save u if ur ship doesn't have the speed and no amount of rare turbo can fix that I have a rare tier 3 turbo with a rare perk do u know what my speed is 1.24 tops and when mortar spamming occurs unless u r a speeder + nitro u can't runaway
