Contribution for drawing fire

    I heard a rumour that the contribution system might be getting an overhaul at some point in the future.

    With that in mind, I thought it might be nice if ships got a small contribution for shots that miss them.

    The targeting system obviously knows which ship is the target when the fire button is pressed, so it wouldn't be inconsievible to award that ship contribution when the shot does no damage. Especially if your team go on to win.

    I've seen a rogue speeder throw my whole team into dissarry, with people missing shots and breaking off to chase it. I also like to think I've had the occasional game where my target baiting has really turned the game in my teams favour.

    I honestly don't mind only getting one star, but it would be nice to get some recognition for my efforts, rather than my team thinking I'm "that useless suicide speeder that did no damage".

    By the same measure, if your team win, and you survive the game, it might be nice to get some contribution for the damage/shots you received. People at the front, taking a lot of damage, are obviously working hard for their team. That should probably count for something.

    The rumor is not true. We have done some fire contribution adjustment for the next update and regularly discuss if the balance is right and if there are ways to tweak some of the rules to be even better but no "overhaul" has been planned.

    It actually already takes into that account and awards contribution for it.

    About that. Out of personal interest, and as a guy who is learning how to code, can you please tell me how you guys managed it? Looks like a monstrous feat to me. Did you consider parameters like mean distance from the ship? Did you construct a separate hitbox? Just askin...
