Can explosive cannon crit hit secondary target?

Does explosive cannon have the ability to crit hit the nearby target(not the one it hits)?

 

I'm interested in this, too, as a person who regularly takes criticals from Explosive Cannons. I probably take more criticals from Blasts and Explosives than I do from Snipers. Can someone next to me also be insta'd when I hear the inevitable PANG of the always-armor-piercing round of an Explosive Cannon breaking my hull open and blowing up my ammo rack?

 

Hmm... That's tricky. Is it critical shot (the bullet you fire is marked a crit before impacting) or critical impact (the crit is decided upon impact)... The world may never know

This is a question that only the Devs can answer. Since there no sandbox mode, there's no way to find out definitively.

 

There is a way to find out. Just land a critical on a ship that is near another ship. If the second ship's damage marker doesn't have an exclamation mark, or is otherwise too low to be double damage, then the critical didn't affect them. It would be a lot easier to test in matches where the enemy has a Fixer.

This would have to come from using the Explosive Cannon a lot and/or stacking critical chance buffs on it. I don't have a EC or crit perks, so I can't test it myself.

 

How do you land a critical hit with EC I have been using it since ages, stone age probably and never seen a crit hit. Its incredibly rare.

 

I have scored some critical hits with explosive canon, so allow me to answer. Whenever you deal a critical hit on your main target, other enemies also take critical damage. So a critical hit on 1 ship means a critical hit on all ships. Makes sense tough since it's just 1 shot right.

 

There's only like 1% chance of it happening. Surprised the shit out of me the first time it happened, was 1vs1 at end of fight.. I had like 200-300 hp, other dude had 1600, both were on cool down. I expected to lose, fired my last shot.. Booom! A crit! he died. And I was sitting there.. wtf? did he run a mine?

 

I need to play more attentively to find out players should get pearls for landing a crit hit with EC imo.
