Frost or Tesla?

Hi BB players,
I'm a new player and I just bought my MK3 Speeder.
I just want to ask you which yellow-item do you prefer and why? Frost Blaster or Tesla Bolt?
Because I read something about freezing gives you many stars or whatever, so I was just wondering if it is the same with tesla bolt...

Freezing does give stars... but only if you use it well and it helps your team.
Weather to use it or not depends on what you're using as weapons/your play style. Hit and run assassin, tesla, torps/mortars, frost.

 

Yes frost gives you a great reward bonus, but only if your teammates hit the frosted target. Tesla is definitely easier to handle, as waves cant get into your way but I'd not use it at a low infamy, as your teammates don't value stuns enough, so they just shoot a stunned boat, which breaks the stun. At mk4 I used overboost and nitro, at mk5 overboost, nitro & tesla bolt. Mk6 tesla shield, tesla bolt and overboost

 

Ok, thank you. I have both tesla and frost blaster at level 10 uncommon...
To use 1v1 I find tesla much better, but it's not that effective for team play

Yes yes it's very strong, but maybe it doesn't give as many stars as frost blaster does...

 

It's not op, it's powerful! But in its own way, I hate frost launcher as much as I hate tesla bolt.

 

I'm also running a mk3 speeder. I find the tesla shield is the most useful yellow item. Speeder doesn't have much hp, so the shield can really help to keep you alive when things get hairy.

I don't find the frost blaster or tesla bolt especially useful at this level. Without all the talents, the stun is over so quickly, it's barely distinguishable from ordinary weapon cool-down.

I prefer the overboost to nitro. Overboost is usually more than fast enough to get me out of blast areas, and it gives you a much longer burst of speed, which is really important for supporting your team, flanking, and general running away.

 

Telsa Bolt is op?! Really?! It doesn't do jack crap!
Once you're hit the stun releases.
I hate getting hit with it,and I use it. The only practical use is...

Anyway Bolt, it's super annoying to have a speeder come in fast, bolt me, then just sit there and right before the stun wears off hits me with a blast cannon and turbos off.

 

At mk3 I would recommend overboost. Once you get up to MK5 you add the tesla tesla bolt is more reliable than the frost blaster and can be used to stun and run or set up a big hit. Frost blaster can miss easier and your enemy can still shoot you while frosted. Frost might be death to another speeder if they over commit, but a shooter or defender is already slow enough that the extra damage from frost isn't worth it compared to taking them out of the fight for so you can get away or you big weapon is ready

Tesla bolt is a lot better only if your team isn't stupid enough to break it as soon as possible. Frost blaster is better only if used in combination with any torpedo for bonus damage or your team is clever enough to focus fire on frozen target. On my MK5 I prefer stun. I find it very effective in battles against fixer and also in the last minutes of the battle when there aren't as much players.

Edit: forgot to mention, on my MK4 I used frost blaster, I used to freeze target and then try to focus team fire. It actually worked and that target is easy hit, but I had epic frost blaster.

Read again... I use t3 uncommon Tesla on my Enforcer.

 

Tesla Bolt. I've been trying the frost blaster with a swift torpedo. It does decent damage, but hitting with the frost is no guarantee that the torp will hit. And I actually think it gives people a heads up, like saying "Hi there. Torpedo coming your way." I have gotten quite a few more stars out of it tho.

 

I've recently started using the Frost - Big Torpedo combo. It's pretty devastating when it hits. I am pretty keen for Mk 5 speeder though so I can have frost AND tesla. That way I can do by huge burst combo, then stun them while I reset.
Best of both worlds.

Honestly I think pre-Mk4 both are useless. I'd use a Overboost AND nitro, as your ship won't be that fast, so you want all the mobility you can get. Once you hit mk4, the tesla bolt starts being very good (once upgraded to at least 6 seconds)

 

Tesla Bolt still allows you to move. I'd think a leveled up frost blaster would be the best for teaming with a torp.

 

I'm probably using it wrong. I think I could connect with a torpedo more if I wasn't so concerned with hitting the enemy with the frost blaster first. I use an Enforcer, so if I could use Big Torp I might change my mind.
