So I'm not a fan of grinding out training times saving gold only to upgrade to a slower version of a boat. Ok, I understand that you get extra hp and an extra slot. With a slower boat you need that hp because the extra time it takes to round a barrier you get tagged a couple more times. I know that the overall capability of your boats speed goes up, but the time it takes to upg up there is insane. This the only game I have ever played that when you upg you lose something.

The alternative would be superslow boats (and gameplay) at early mks. Not sure thats preferable?
You lose a tiny amount, which is more than negated by talents, gear and perks.

Assuming you got the gear to compensate the speed loss... *cries in tier 3 rare turbo*

Imagine how insanely quick and nimble all the high level players would be if this was not the case. MK6-7 defenders that dance around as nimble as MK2 speeders.
It makes sense, you get a boat with more hard points, with more armour - meaning it's heavier. It's going to be slower and less nimble. (And without it matches between different boat tiers would be way more unbalanced.)

I agree with you... speed it better than defense. I'm actually thinking to not upgrade my mk4 shooter just because of the speed, at list for now until I can upgrade my boost. Mk5 is worth it because of the extra weapon slot though.

Maybe they want to implement some realistic physics. i.e. slots increases weight and it decreases speed. Likewise it is harder to turn with more weight onboard and turret agility decreases too. But again it is only my opinion.

Mk 7 increases your speed, turret agility, ship agility and health. So its like an mk7 ship with more health with an mk6 speed. Who knows maybe mk8, mk9 and so on can fix the speed problem

When you upgrade a boat your max stats increase (the limit your boat can reach in stats with items. Speed, turning, defense points, etc)

Balance: You speed decreases every level so reaching these max limits takes higher level or multiple of the same items.

Assuming you can get one! There's this thing called the item randomizer that has kept me at an L10 rare turbo for nearly the entire duration of my game... while everyone else has L30 or Epic Turbo. This game can be brutal in that way.

I have a mk5 shooter and I find the reduced speed from mk4 is so small it's not noticeable. But then again I have a rare t3 turbo equipped, I might notice it if I don't use that item.

Well, you shouldn't have to worry about speed if you're defender, amirite?

How is your inventory even possible?! Damn the RNG hates me!

@nosesabe , I'm right with you, It took forever to get a rare turbo. Now I'm stuck at lvl20 wihile Defenders outrun me!

Because I don't save up anything. I spend all my gold on common items / rare item pieces and pearls wherever I feel like. So I combine more rares per week on average than player who saves up for next ship, crate or chest.

It's all about the maximum speed potential as you upgrade your ship. Yes the BASE speed is less but the MAXIMUM potential speed is higher

True that. I'm done upgrading turbos until I get mk6.
