So I've been noticing since the the first time I played, a lot of players have username with a common pattern. That pattern is [adjective] +[animal name] + [random number].
    For some examples:
    Elastic rhino 752
    Hopeful otter 337
    Spotted cougar 876
Etc etc with the same pattern (screenshots below for players with similar names)
My question is, are they legit player?
Because the names seem like randomly generated with simple logarithm and formula, I got the feeling that they are bots that you fight on tutorial levels.
But sometimes I found myself in the same battle with players with similar name pattern on 2000 infamy, and it's impossible to be bot when infamy is that high.
So anybody know what's going on here?
Are those names some kind of meme going on here on battle bay community?
Lol might be a silly post, but this has been bugging me for a while now.

That's the randomly generated name you get when you start. If you're seeing one, it usually means the player just hasn't bothered to change it, or finds it amusing to keep their "newbie name" despite being at 2000+ infamy.

It's a random generated name the game chooses for you should you not want to select your own nickname

    Yep. They are bots.
Working as designed. They disappear around 500 inf iirc

It makes sense now. I never knew the game generates a name for you if you don't want to do it yourself.
Man, those people with randomly generated name are real lazy assess.

Back during launch at low infamy it was actually an advantage - if you had a bot-styled name, people wouldn't realize you weren't a bot until after you properly led a torpedo shot into their face and took half their HP off.

To have one now might be more of a joke, like "hey, look, I'm still a harmless bot!"

I know in some other games my name is like "Test_Account_Please_Ignore" and sometimes people will.

Right up until I shoot them in the face. :D

If you have infamy in the low hundreds they are in fact bots, a few might be people who didn't change their default name but they're rare. I've seen people also make parodies of these generated names like HungDonkey371
