Hey guys, with all the negative threads out there about floaters etc. I wanted to make a thread about beating the odds. Here is an example of winning a 4v5 from the start. I noticed he hadn't moved from spawn but was determined to win anyway. Got 3 stars for my efforts.

Is cannon on shooter viable? Im thinking about replacing a weapon for it

It happened to me yesterday but... the other way around my team was getting wrecked and I survived till I was the only one left, and then the last enemy boat suddenly popped into my vision, still floating at start, and I realized we lost a 5v4.

 

I have yet to encounter a match were there are more mk5 ships on my team than on my enemy. Despite that I'm 2570 infamy with an mk4 shooter. So yeah, I'm beating the odds. But still I don't like getting paired up against teams with better ships and weapons.

You guys make it seem simple to win matches like that. Some people also claim that the chances of winning are 50/50, even if your team is outclassed. But guess what? It's not.

 

Outclassed is a vastly overused term around here!

Teams are matched based on the most accurate performance estimate there is -- Some teams work well together, others horribly, and thats where the blowouts occur.
Unless you are high enough to take the bi-weekly slap when all the top players get reset to 4k and they become rated lower than their actual ability, but that is just for a few days.

2570 is great for a mk4, what do you want the matchmaking to do when most people at your infamy starts having higher level boats? Continue to match you up against people you can outperform or match you up against others with even ability?

I'm dead stuck at peaks around 3.8k infamy, but I'm a mk5 - Should I moan about how unfair it is that I have to play against mk6/7 boats? I'm sorry for the tone, but I really cant follow these endless matchmaking complaints.

yeah, i dont think that way either.
The battle win/loss rate is 50%
However, that does not mean each battle you have a 50% chance of winning. I suppose you have a 50% chance of getting a good team
Id say with a bad team (ie one that splits up, has weapons that doesnt compliment the map or unfriends, and rushing/floating) ur chance of winning is like 10%
And with a good team (together, know what to do, weapons compliment, no rushing, smart playing) a 90% lol. Sometimes its just too easy to win, others its impossible

I'd love to fleet, but I'm currently at my pr, so chances are that I'll be dragging you down with me. And I'm an mk4 shooter, you'll be bringing an mk4 ship between all those mk5's. I'd like to team up with the famous Behumble, but I don't want to drag you down. (Maybe I'll have my mk5 in a week, then I won't be worried about dragging you down. But I'll add you anyway)

I agree with @Kitterini that infamy is the most accurate performance estimate there is. @Wishaal and @behumble, you guys outperformed your ships and are peaking (or near) at around 2500 infamy in your MK4 ships. Most people at that level have MK5/MK6 with much heavier loadouts. The fact is many people ahead of you guys been complaining about progress stalls at several points in the game. What @Wishaal want is to be in Nightmare league with his MK4 and that's not happening. Just be like me, have fun battling no matter how hopeless the match is. Worse case scenario, you forget the last battle and move on to the next. <-- The point of this thread.

P.S. I'll try to catch you 2 when I get my MK5 Shooter in about a month or so. Once you get your MK5s, you'll be stuck somewhere for a long while.

 

Honestly pretty glad progress stalls because my inventory needs some time to catch up to all these heavv loadouts like you mentioned.
While the aim is definitely nightmare league, Im enjoying the game too, battle by battle
But yes, we will definitely have to have some fleets too! Glad to be meeting great players on the forums

no i think what hes saying is his team got crushed and while he was the last one surviving on his own team, he was probably running away from the unfriends left and the inactive ship came into view...

 

How'd he lose 5v4 then? Doesn't that mean that the unfriends had one ship left? and if so... that means him and the active unfriend shot simultaneously?

His team had 5, the unfriends had 4 active.
the 4 unfriends destroyed his team, and he was the only one left on his team...
idk how many unfriends were left, could've been all 5 ( including floater)

Used Revive. It was super effective!

So I didn't think it would happen before mk5, with this shift downwards in the infamy ladder due to more players, but I made it! And have been carrying my team to victory even against almost all mk5 teams.
Even outperformed mk5s and a mk6 on my team on the way.
