Healing Bolt, a Fixers new best friend?

    Greetings fellow Fixers!

    How have your experience been with the vastly improved Healing Bolt so far? I suspect most people will need some time to level it up to a useable stage, but early impressions perhaps! I've tried out my lvl 30 rare bolt on a mk5 Fixer, swapping double pulse setup out for Pulse+Bolt+Box. It's been stressing and not so good for my infamy, but I do see potential.

    Some early impressions:
    - It does a very solid amount of healing for a 1point item.
    - Being able to heal at range is amazing, it does put your aiming skills to the test though and teammates will need to understand how it works. Trying to hit a speeder fleeing for his life is tricky, as his nitro/dodging moves also works against what you are trying to do - But I'm sure I'll get better at hitting and people will learn to anticipate when the bolt is gonna come also.
    - Running 3 different healing items is stressful & trying to combine that with shooting and maintaining situational awareness is a problem.
    - More often than not you'll need to use Repair Bolt for the healing it does, keeping it off CD hoping to cancel a stun/frost is a nice added feature, but not a crucial element. At this point I'm convinced that 3% HP is a better talent than frost clearing, and on the fence for whether 5% HP wouldn't also be better than removing a stun every other game. But ultimately its nice to have to make that kind of choice, so gj devs!
    - For a Mk5 I still believe double Pulse is your best bet, but its a very strong contender for any mk that needs to run a 1p item. Looking forward to rocking a superdefensive Mk6 with Pulse, Pulse, Bolt in a few months!

    While writing this post I found a 4th Repair Bolt, good times!

    I fleet with a mk4 fixer who uses repair box + repair bolt (no pulse!) And he fixes me from far away (I'm a mk4 speeder).

    It works perfectly because I use big shield instead of 2 1 slot items (So he won't miss me from me being too fast)

    In lots of cases I am taking on 2 speeders at a time and with my boat having 2650 hp compared to all the speeders with 1700-1900 and my friend healing me from afar I can take them both down easily. (He also helps some with his missle launcher he is a good aimer with them.

    I for 1 love this update even though they took 160 hp from me. Repair bolt is amazing.

    I dont play fixer, so I cant use the new item. But earlier I played with a fixer who had a Tier 3 rare I think? Pretty cool. It heals instantly, and I think it saved my life cancelling the frost. If I had to choose only 1 anti passive, then id probably go with the anti-frost so you can get the 5% HP instead of anti-stun and only 3% HP.

    After the changes there has been some times when im close to death and i get instantly healed so it might be my bestfriend as well
    Plus this is faster insted of throwing a box and waiting for it , only to die instantly or accidently missing the box and die anyway

    Tried and didn't liked it. As mk5 to use bolt, didn't find the combo, tried to use pulse box bolt, bolt box box, not worked well. Hard to hit in longer distances, so bolt gonna stay in inventory, maybe I will find out how to use it. It is the only item that dont heal yourself, that makes a big thing in not using it, because when you can double pulse yourself or pulse double box in bad situation, you heal up fast, but with bolt you get 1 heal less for yourself.
    So in my opinion, its nice amount of health if you hit accurate and it has speciality to de frost and unstun. But not worth to use it if you get hit by enemies a lot. I use pulse 2x Box and it works for me best as mk5. Personal best in one battle over 30k :)

    @AndrewT1 Agreed that Pulse+Bolt+Box is more confusing that strong - So much time spend trying to make stuff hit. I'm having much more success with Pulse+Bolt+Bolt. Not sure it beats double Pulse though, but in some cases double bolt is quite impressive. Its an amazing setup in 2 Fixer games where the other Fixer makes up for the lack of selfhealing, while you are able to heal at a distance. Doing just fine at 3700'ish infamy with Pulse (rare lvl 40), Bolt (rare lvl 31) & Bolt (epic lvl 1) - Lacking some bolt talents still, so more potential for sure.

    Over 30 games I'd say frost clearing would have been relevant 0 times, while stun clear could have been useful in perhaps 5 of the games, but in most cases its a matter of a few seconds or clearing a stun at a non important time - I guess removing stun/frost might be good for secret sauce star calculations though, but who knows.

    The main thing though -- Playing with double Bolt is fun!

    I am using pulse, box, bolt at the moment. I don't find it hard. It is still too early for me to judge it, but I also am having fun. So cool.

    Used Pulse, Box, Bolt for a while but need to get the bolt to a higher level before it could be a good setup for me. As a double pulse user I agree with Kitterini with the fact that it does feel a bit stressful to use 3 different healing items. When getting use to it the setup definitely has potential! Would also love to break Orpheus' stun with the bolt ;) Imagine how much damage someone like CHRISTMAS+ can do in those 15 seconds that he's not stunned!!

    Come on guy's ... If shooters can go all guns blazing with 5 different weapons, surely we can adapt to pulse, box, bolt.
    Personally I think this is actually the best combination until Mk6.

    Sure -- For me though I'll say that my infamy is better when I run a setup that leaves more room for focusing on situational awareness. Pulse, Pulse + Napalm lets me point my boat towards unfriendlies & neither heal requires aiming. Bolt is a fantastic tool to have though!

    Right now I'm playing Box+Bolt+Bolt -- Its fun, but fragile. For mk5 I'm torn between whether I think double pulse beats out pulse+bolt+tape - But I don't have a viable tape to test that and I doubt I'll be using tape once I unlock mk6. Pulse+Pulse+Bolt is gonna be fun!

    Hey, thank you guys! It's nice to read about your experiences with the bolt because I've found only one epic and no rare bolts since they added it. I don't know how it's even possible to avoid rare bolts this long but I'll get some in the future. Hope it's an epic one so I could use a tier ii epic instead of rare. Anyway, I'm sure I'll give it a try.

    If I just could lock the aim on one friendly boat until it's fixed for whole battle and then move to another, and if I'd like to shoot the friendly ships with my cannons, too, I am sure I could handle it ;) But it's true the aiming takes much with all of the repairing items. Personally I never just hit that pulse and hope it's enough. I aim also the pulse by hitting it only when I can heal as many team members as possible. So, my playing is aiming and rotating the camera all the time. And if any of friendly boats sink while I'm aiming the unfriends I blame myself especially if we lose.

    I still love my box...saves me and others too often to abandon. And now I love bolt...it's just fun.

    I'm loving the pulse/box/bolt combo with the slow and stun removal talents. I use pulse around me, box to fix friends in my area and bolt for that long heal, or to remove a speeders slow or stun so they can escape or finish off the kill, whichever. Def considering a second bolt or box, rather than pulse for mk 6. Which is only 1 captain lvl away...

    They are completely different. Pulse is aoe and heals over time. Box can be launched and remains for a minute until someone comes in range to set it off, healing just that boat.

    The new bolt is so fun to play, i get happy wen i see frost launcher in enemys team xD, The yellow boats take their surprise when they see that you breack their combo torpedo - frost... yes my new best toy.. and not bad healing blue bolt level 10 is almost 400 hp

    In that case, bolt gives you unlimited range (but you need los and to fire accurately) and it allows you to do some debuffs (remove frost, for example). Box has limited range, but it lasts for a minute, can be tossed over barriers, and you can heal yourself instantly. They are really quite a bit different in terms of use and depend on your play style. We have more load out options as a fixer now; it was greatly needed. The better/worse thing for any one item is not the way to look at this; you must find a combo you like relative to your MK and all your slot and item choices.
