Shield and defence

    Hi,

    Got a little ask
    I M mk5 enforcer, with 2900hp, 25 defence, around 1,7k infamy (mk5 yesterday)
    Wth standard shield epic lvl11 (3 slot of advantage)

    Is it really useful to continue rush defence or should i go hp ?
    I Don t use overboost /nitro and got a 1,17 speed with my turbo.

    Its a toss up for me as a Mrk 4 Enforcer at around 2K infamy. If you get in a lot of fights with speeders with carronade then defense will save you more. If your getting hit by big torps and railguns than HP will be of more benefit. as a defender with a lot of HP they would almost always go for Defense because the large HP gives them more hits which in turn makes the Defense more efficient. but as an Enforcer id love to see some math on it myself. hope someone can answer this as well.

    so now do not know what is the best...HP or def...
    probably in fact HP, and def would be useful in a big shield build
    epic advantage give +9 def, so with 2 or 3 shield with 3 slot can give between 54 and 81 defence...
    so finally for enforcer with max a big shield (an enforcer with 2 shield is certainly too slow) we can have 27 defence... not sure it's really useful in fact :( shit.... need HP for test

    For the HP perks you have on the shield...

    UC - 50hp
    Rare - 100hp
    Epic - 150hp
    so potentially you could have 450hp extra on an epic shield tier 2... 450 hp... as you say 3 epic defense would be 27. so inorder for the defense to be even with the HP you would have to take 16.66 shots. so lets say if you take 17 shots that's better to have Defence, if you take 16 HP is better. if you have 2900 hp in order to get 17 shots they would need to only be 170.5 a shot. lol so even with a healer I doubt you'll get hit 17 times and live....

    Bottom line.... seems like HP is better for us, what do you think?

    Yes it seems that hp is better, well.. will switch my shield and teslashield to HP ^^

    Its not 450 hp though.
    Its 450*(shield hp multiplier) and after that you gain hp from ship hp multipliers also.

    So for an endgame defender its 450*1.5 (big shield gains 50% from talents) = 675.
    And then 675*1.43 (very lategame defender hp modifier) = 965 hp from 3 150hp perks.

    Which doesnt change the conclusion you arrived at though :)

    Sorry but I don't think they add up like that, does your total hp on your ship/shield reflect that formula?
    I'm pretty sure they add to the base HP not accounting for perks. but maybe I'm wrong?

    Tesla shield is different my friend, I would go duration on that, mainly because most people will not waste a shot on you if your shield is up. they always wait until it goes down.

    I would mention it if I was guessing - The above is how the game works.

    I've double checked my math and I don't see anyway you could have a number like 450 added to a multiplier then take that result and another multiplier,
    Your saying 450 x 1.5 = n , n x 1.43 = 965hp
    Everything I see would point to all addition happening and then all Percentage added to that one number.
    So from what I can tell would it not be 450 x (1.93) = 868.5?

    (Besides that it looks like a defender could have a possible 103% bonus with a big shield and all percentage HP training.)
    Regardless, it seems like we are all in agreement on the fact that HP looks like a better option for a MRK 4/5 Enforcer. Even more so with your added information on the % bonus.

    Defense wont make any difference without high hit points. So for now I suggest you try to get as much HP as possible. Three 1,000 damage hits would kill your 2,900 ship even if you had 25 def. Now if you had 3,200-3,300 HP and 10 def youd still be alive.
